A second quote from a website:
"Unlike DVD, on Blu-ray, each subtitle item has an attribute that specified whether particular subtitle appearance should be forced.
Forced subtitles are shown regardless of current player setting, typically when movie contains a foreign language scene.
The "forced" attribute is assigned per individual subtitle image."

I understand and will repeat my previous reply to you today.

Himedia are developing Kodi for H8. Ultimately (soon) it will replace himediaplayer. Kodi has subtitle, audio track, etc options completely right. Once Kodi on H8 also has 3D and the same performance as Himediaplayer H8 will have everything..

Thank you for the answer, but actually HiMedia player works much better than Kodi (no 24 Hz, no Full-HD 3D (frame-packet),...)
and tell you the truth, I prefer to use the ad-free freeware Mizuu (http://mizuu.tv/download/ (http://mizuu.tv/download/)) as browser and database
and the HiMedia player as movie player. It is small, fast and very easy to use (wife proof ;)).

H8 octa is advertised as Android box and not as Kodi box.
OK, Kodi is one big thing on it and if it is working I will give it a try but also the other programs should work!
That is the reason why I send you the bugs I find and hope that you will transfer them to HiMedia to fix them.
(I did not use Kodi because actually it is useless (see above). So my fear is, if I start working with it I will find also a lot of bugs. :'()

I know it is not the best advertisement for the product if somebody find and post so many bugs during one week of using it.
So excuse me for that. But after a given time, I want to have a 100% working box for some years to be happy with.
And for that the users have to post bug reports to HiMedia/You.

Have you tested the thing with the forced subtitles in Kodi? - Is it working?

Ultimately (soon) it will replace himediaplayer.
What means replace and what means soon? - If Kodi will have all missing features in the future the HiMedia player will be removed from the firmware?

To avoid a new topic I report here:
As I mentioned before,
if I start the replay from Mizuu and choose MX Player, everything is OK and MX Player plays with its restrictions the movie.
If I start the replay from Mizuu and choose the HiMedia player, for MKV files I get "Error Code: -404 and for ISO files I get for infinite time the moving circle (egg timer).

Eventually Kodi on H8 will work as well as / better than Himediaplayer does now. Himediaplayer will not be replaced, perhaps that was the wrong word to use, Himediaplayer will still be there for those who want it. The fact is, however, that for most people using H8, Kodi is the primary player and this will only increase.

I don't mind you posting the bugs. I just want to emphasise that for most customers they are of limited importance because most customers will rarely/never use Himediaplayer. The Himediaplayer bugs have been passed onto Himedia.

As regards forced subtitles, I am sure they work in Kodi and have done for a few years. http://kodi.wiki/view/Subtitles#Using_Forced_Subtitles

I do not get this behaviour from e.g. ES File Explorer. Himediaplayer does not support Samba network with password, this could be the problem. It needs a Samba share without password.

Thank you, I understand and I see that you are really very experienced in multimedia and give a good support 8). So in the future the bug reports can be held shorter ::).
(I have other experience with an other reseller in the past.)

I will try it with Samba share without password. (I thought only the older Q5/Q10 have problems with that and it was solved for H8?)

A question to Kodi:
Under Settings/Appearance/International/Language is only English available.
Can I download other languages somewhere or is this hard coded in this HiMedia-Kodi.

Problems with video playback and Samba passwords is a general Android problem. It needs fixing at at Android OS level.

Since Kodi 15, Kodi only installs English language by default. Other languages are available as add-ons: http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_languages_offline

FW version changed in start post, because error persists in new FW.
Kodi supports MVC now but very buggy (macroblocking, stuttering). -> Not usable for 3D-ISO.

I don't think 3D-ISO (MVC) is very buggy. It's not perfect, and not as good as Q5/Q10/M3, but it's watchable and better than nearly all other Android/Kodi products.

I refer readers to this chart on Kodi forum for accurate and impartial info: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=221407

Himedia will continue to improve 3D ISO performance (macroblocking in H8 is already better than Zidoo X6 with similar hardware) and other features of H8.

The HiMedia Player is actually better than Kodi for 3D-ISO replay.
If they fix the small bug with the not supported forced flag, H8 users can use it in the meantime for playing 3D-ISOs.
All that I want is a quick workaround until the time Kodi is A grade to enjoy 3D.
