I have three units that have been upgraded to 2.09. All three will not use the wrapper to play files and as a result, I have no pass-through of digital audio. All I can playback is stereo.
I have read these forums (and others) top to bottom and have done the following:
-Uninstalled the wrapper and re-installed it (latest version found on this forum).
-Copied the updated info from Futeko's post into the playerfactory.xml file.
-Disabled and re-enabled the wrapper.
-Switched to Kodi Player and switched back to Wrapper Player in the main interface.
-Connected to the Himedia via Samba shares from my PC as well as via a file manager on the Himedia to edit and verify playerfactory.xml
-Enabled auto start in the wrapper app.
-Factory reset on the player.
-Changed Kodi 17.6 settings for pass-through and enabled 7.1 channel sound (I have a 5.1.2 setup)
-I have read through Futeko's FAQ and I am stumped. Role back to 2.08 makes no difference.
If I use the built-in media player it works perfectly but then I lose the library functions of Kodi.
I have an Apple TV4 which works with 5.1 / Atmos (IOS12 Beta) so it is not my amp or speaker config etc.
An interesting thing I have found is that when I initially went to /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/ there was no playercorefactory.xml in the folder. This was the case even after uninstalling and re-installing the wrapper.
Am I forgetting something?
Thanks in advance.

It appears whatever you did, was duplicated to all 3 players.
How did you upgrade? From 2.0.8 or a lower version?
Perhaps try the pin method and re-flash the full upgrade on one unit to see if this fixes your issue?
I upgraded to 2.0.9 from the GUI and a USB drive and my Kodi still shells to the external player with no audio issues.
Have played plenty of 7.1 audio tracks since :)
