Title: Non QWERTY style USB keyboards not supported
Post by: HDMediaplayer on November 03, 2015, 03:34:27 PM
FW: HIMEDIA H8 OCTA. 16-OCT-2015. FIRMWARE HMD-1.0.7 FUTEKO-EN

I have connected a German (QWERTZ) USB keyboard to the H8.
The language is adjusted to German in Android settings and the Android soft-keyboard (on-screen keyboard) is shown correctly in QWERTZ style.
But if I use the external USB keyboard, its keys were interpreted in QWERTY style and for example the @ and _ (and a lot of others) are on different keys.
I can not change the keyboard style in Android under menu "Customised input style" because it seems there is a bug.
If I try to change the style or try to add a new keyboard/style the error message is:
"The same input style already exists: German (QWERTZ)"  -  but it do not exist!
In between, for test, I deleted all available styles and try to add a new one.
Same error message: "The same input style already exists: German (QWERTZ)" although there is no keyboard style present!

@futeko.com: Something wrong from my site or can you confirm?

PS. How can I make screenshots on the H8?

I can confirm that German QWERTZ USB attached keyboards are recognised as QWERTY.

The onscreen keyboard can be changed as expected to QWERTZ.

I will pass this on to Himedia as a bug but I think it possible that this is inherent to the Android OS (support only for QWERTY USB keyboards - because the OS is phone/tablet it would make sense that USB keyboard support is incomplete), so there may not be much they can do about it.

Not sure on screenshots. We have a HDMI capture card.
