As you can see, using Himediaplayer lines are blurred for more than 700 resolution.
Those who passed this test can (if they want) see more resolution tests. At. http://www.w6rz.net/ there are 2 sections, Horizontal Resolution Patterns and Vertical Resolution Patterns which has 2 files, horzpix1.ts and vertpix1.ts.
These files has 1 pixel width alternating black/white lines, usefull to verify at which distance from TV you see distinct lines (relation between your eyes, diagonal, distance from TV). Well, on Himediaplayer at whatever distance we see only a gray mess, clips are fine running from my TV player or using bluray player.
Who passes the 1080p resolution test can go further downloading thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppz41EmaJyU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppz41EmaJyU) pattern (using a downloader that knows to grab 4k resolution, like YTD Downloader) and check 100% column (which also has 1 pixel alternating black/white vertical column). It's usefull not only for checking player resolution but also minimum distance for diagonal at which we see true 4k resolution.

In Settings - Playback - Image Quality is 'ExpressX Engine' turned on?
It should be off for a test like you are conducting.
Also Maintain aspect ratio should be 'Keep ratio'.

That settings was on. I turned off, Maintain aspect ratio put to 'keep ratio' but the same problem. Restarted to be sure this settigs are applied, same results. Played with all settings in that menu (Sharpness, Superresolution, etc) but no effect.
If you have time please download and test yourself the clip, if for you it's ok then I have to return my mediaplayer as defective.

I have downloaded the test image and it will be tested tomorrow.
Without having tested, I don't think it's possible that there's a problem like this with Q5. It's been a popular product with demanding and technically expert users for almost a year, this would have been noticed by now. But we will test.
I'd welcome anyone else's feedback (test results) on this.

Thank you for your tests.
First: no, it's not ok the picture from your test, at the bottom (near the number 128-0) you must have 4 different lines, not one solid thick line. If you play the clip on a PC the difference it's obvious from TV screen, you have 4 distinct lines up to 1080 number.
Second: I put info on my pictures, LG fullscreen means the clip is played from my LG bluray player (used for comparison). So the pause is from my bluray player
Third: using original firmware (1.0.4-Q5EN.1000) brings much better resolution, see pics in this post

The improvement in resolution is also visible in movies but this clip captures the exact situation (see lines in macro pictures are distinct almost up to 1080 mark).
So it's a firmware/driver issue (if it works with first firmware), not a malfunction from my mediaplayer.
I also put macro from Kodi DVD Player just for the sake of comparison.
I also welcome anyone feedback using not only this pattern but also other patterns mentioned (4k pattern still don't look good on 1.0.4 4k pattern after a short modifyings settings looks perfect with this firmware). It's important to use standard patterns to achieve constant/repeatable/comparable results.

Got it. I will test with 1.0.4 FW tomorrow. I'll also mention it to Himedia tomorrow morning.

OK. Here's a photo with Q5 at 1080p 60Hz and a Samsung LE40C530F1W TV. Playback using Q5 Himedia Media Centre. Firmware 3.0.1.1.
It looks perfect to me.
hansolo, on the middle of your photos where does the red pause icon come from? It isn't from Himedia Media Centre.
i have test HQV BENCHMARK and SUPER HIVI CAST and there is no problem ....

One aditional word for users. If you have 4k TV always use 4k (2160p) resolution.
1pix patterns (horzpix1.ts and vertpix1.ts) looked bad on 1080p60 settings on my 4k TV using Himedia 1.0.4 (but looks good on same TV using my bluray player, my TV upscale in this case to 4k).
Changing resolution to 2160p30Hz and all is perfect!

As a sugestion from another forum member, using Q5 4K3D. 11-SEP-2015. FIRMWARE HMD-3.0.1.1 FUTEKO-EN.zip
- HiMedia / Display/ Screen size Position changing settings from remote to maximum zoom (it wasn't set by default on maximum/screen fit). Using this settings output is correct for any pattern.
If it was mentioned on FAQ sorry if I didn't read, on 1.0.4 I didn't change this and I suppose it's default on screen fit.

It wasn't mentioned in any FAQ. I wasn't aware of the problem.
I have now done more testing on another display and I get perfect reproduction after setting screen scale to max.
Glad this has been resolved.

Many thanks for your support, I'm happy with my q5.
I think this tread can be close as solved. Maybe I will come on another thread with little questions (like decoding multichannel AAC sound).
