Title: Q10 pro stops playback after an hour with both internal and external HDD SOLVED!
Post by: jam1e on May 07, 2018, 08:29:33 PM
I brought a Q10 pro a couple of months ago, I have started to notice that it stops playback around the hour mark ( I know this because I always have to fast forward to get back the the part I was watching ), I have tried both internal and external drives and it happens with both and happens with all the videos I've tested. When the Q10 does stops playing the media it doesn't kick me back to the menu. the screen just goes blank and I have to use the return button to go back the list screen.

Has anyone else had this type of problem? Or know a way I fix it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi,
Which firmware version you have?
This is a know issue with Himedia Player and there's no solution, as far as I know. I stopped using Himedia player entirely and only use Kodi internal player.

Never seen this issue but I use Kodi with wrapper as my player.  This uses the MediaCenter player which works fine for all HD video (but has had some issues with older SD/DVD formats).

Try using MediaCenter and see if you get the same issue.  If it works, make sure you have the "wrapper" turned on so you can use Kodi to shell to it each time you play something.  Details are in the FAQ.

Hi, thanks for the reply's and sorry for taking so long to respond.

I had tried both media player and Kodi, but it happened with both, but I have managed to fix the problem.

To begin I noticed a slight flickering when there was a mostly dark scene, I initially thought it was the adaptive back-light setting on the television but it still happened after I'd turned it off. So I had a look at the menu settings on the Q10 and noticed that the Imprex engine was switched on, I turned it off and  it fixed both the flickering and the problems with playback.

So if anyone is having the same problem, just turn off the Imprex engine, it seems unstable and the problem I was having must have been the engine crashing the system
