Hello guys.... Does anybody here have an experience in using old Sony 5 speaker home theater system(with DVD player as the sound system for the Q10 pro..? It has only 1 HDMI port but have the 3 slot RCA port connection.? How do you manage to do it..?
-
You can probably use the RCA connections, post here a photo of the back of the home theater system.
-
Type or number of the system?

Greetings guys I am sending a picture of THE SONY DVD Player (part of Home theater) which connects all to the sound system for your reference.
-
There's no digital SPDIF input for 5.1 sound at all. The picture is too low res to see the label, but if those two red and white RCAs are "Audio Ins" (and not Audio Outs) than you can connect it with the HiMedias analogue RCA outs. So you can have stereo audio. (Maybe the DVD Player can also upmix it to "fake" 5.1, so you could have all your speakers make some sound, but it's rather unlikely.)
-
you could use a hdmi splitter, sending one way to tv and another to audio system [but the tv will no longer send audio via ARC to player, if you're using this configuration]
it's not neccesary to be a dual hdmi 2.0 splitter, it's enough to have one hdmi 2.0 and one hdmi 1.4 [for audio]

Hi...Yes those are similar to HImedia RCA outs,,,,I was really planning to connect the DVD player to that but just want confirmation from anyone that is familiar with such set up...would it really work and not produce a distorted signal.? We know that HDMI is superior to RCA.If I connect the himedia RCA with the DVD Player RCA then connect the DVD playerr with HDMI output to the TV would there be no degradation of signal quality resulting in poor video and audio display?

Hello...could you please elaborate on that matter as HDMI spliting is new to me.. Where do I have to connect toHDMI splitter..In the dVD player?
So one is input from the Himedia and the other output to the TV..May I know ,What is the expected audio and video quality for such arrangement?

Have checked what the label says right beside the two RCA on the DVD player? If it says Analogue In or Audio In, than you should just simply connect the red-white RCAs from HiMedai. Normally it wont cause any troubles or whatsoever, it's what it's designed for.
For the HDMI solution: Does your DVD system have an HDMI INPUT at all? As I see there's just a HDMI OUTPUT, so connecting with HDMI to HiMedia is not an option here.

Yes , its HDMI out....so is okay to connect both RCA ports of the Himedia Q10 pro to the DVD then use the HDMI to connect the DVDplayer to the TV,,?

Have you read the linked manual above? If not than do and that will ensure you at least that: YESS it is OK.

I have tried it but it did not work...

You should set in HiMedia Settings->Playback menu the HDMI and the SPDIF to "Close".
If it still doesn't work than maybe you should enable the analogue inputs in your DVD players menu (see it's manual).

what u have is a HTIB - home theater in a box.
the "amp" is in the DVD player; only hdmi output, no hdmi input.
for audio the best u can do is, as already said, use the red/white rca inputs (q10pro output connect here).
u get just 2.0 whatever u play.
HTIB is cheap compared to component systems, has proprietory connections, cannot easily dismantle components to match other components.

So there is not much hope converting this old home theater system to be the sound box of the q10 pro....?

Not an offense, but are you doing this uncomprehending for purpose? We wrote 100 times that you can do it with the RCA connectors and with the RCA connectors only.

I followed the suggestion but it does not work with my system.

According to the device manual it should work. Have you checked both the settings in your DVD system to enable it and both what I've wrote about the HiMedia settings? What kind of RCA cables are you using?

nothing great n nothing more u can do/get.
becos yr htib is a low end inversatile system - good for your old dvd's only.
q10pro can deliver superb audio with high grade files + a much better home theater system.

I think I can't find any h ope in connecting the Q10 with the DVD home theater system... Have find a really good reasonably priced system to fit this HImedia product...
I appreciate guys your time and effort regarding this matter.....
