Title: Sound issue
Post by: dyerm99 on March 14, 2018, 03:08:41 PM
I have a Hi Media q5 pro with the latest official firmware and Kodi 17.6.  When I stream a movie with 5.1 sound, I have no sound when playing movies with stereo track.  Can any one help please?

Your question doesn't make sense, please re-phrase it.

I watch a movie on kodi with 5.1 sound and everything is fine.  When the movie ends and I try to watch another movie with stereo sound I have no sound.  It takes a while for the box/kodi to switch back to stereo.  Is there a setting or something I can do?

Thanks

I know this is an old thread but I think I know what the OP meant and it is also happening to me. Let me explain,  after playing a movie with the himedia external player using the wrapper in kodi and then exiting, sound is completely lost in the kodi interface. If I then start lets says a trailer using an internet stream with stereo sound (2channel) using kodi's internal videoplayer, no sound will be present either. But using the external himedia player to play local media works fine. Sometimes after a period of time sound comes back again to the kodi interface and to kodi's internal videoplayer.

To fix this I have to restart kodi, or toggle the hdmi sound output in the q10 pro's settings. Please help.

My setup consists of an lg oled c8 tv and a denon x-4500 amp. The q10 pro is connected directly to the amp.

What's the settings for the sound output? Do you have any add-ons in kodi related to sound like a muxer?
Whats the Kodi version?

I tried the same procedure on another  tv an lg oled b7 and lg sk10y soundbar and the same thing happened. No sound after using the wrapper. Sound is lost when going from kodi player to wrapper (external player) and back again to kodi player.

Try to reinstall the wrapper:
From the FAQ
* How to reinstall wrapper? Shutdown Kodi. Find wrapper app at My Apps - Wrapper. Select 'use Kodi player'. Exit wrapper app. Run wrapper app again. Select 'use wrapper player'. Exit wrapper app. Restart Kodi.

This seems to be a problem only with custom firmware. Just tried with original firmware and it works fine.

Edit: Sorry spoke too soon problem is also present with OFW.

To correctly exit the wrapper do I press exit or return in the controller? Tried both ways both the problem persists.:(

I have installed the stop button patch and always the 0 key to stop playing.
Try to upgrade Kodi to version 18.3

Upgraded to kodi 18.3 but this does not fix the issue.

Pressing the back button twice should exit the player properly. Works fine here on OFW 2.1.1 / newest KODI.

I use the stop button in my harmony remote to exit the himedia player. STL I think got confused with my question. I was asking how to exit the wrapper app and not how to exit the player. To exit the wrapper app I tried both the back button or the exit key in my harmony remote, neither made a difference with the final result. So again is this the correct way to exit the wrapper app?

As far as I know the wrapper is just an app that changes the configuration of kodi to use an external app to play the videos, the videos are played by himedia player. Pressing the back button twice or stop button does the same thing.

Hi everyone,
I'm on CFW 2.1.4, and playing a series with 5.1 stereo sound on wrapper I have NO SOUND, while on kodi player everything is fine.
MEDIAINFO about this movie (mkv) is:
Audio: English, 202 kbps, 48.0 kHz, 6 channels, Opus.
Video: 1002 kbps, 1920x1080 (16:9), at 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS, HEVC (Main 10@L5.1@Main).
Any ideas?
Cheers.

Finally solved my no sound problem in kodi after playing a movie with the himedia player. Just switched keep audio device alive off in kodi settings->system->audio and 2 channel sound comes back after exiting wrapper.  :D
