What exactly do you mean by "HiFi listening"? Himedia's DAC converter quality, Signal-To-Noise ratio,...? I do not consider me as high-end audiophile so I could not answer such tech numbers.
However, general guideline would be not to use RCA outputs at all but to send sound in original (digital) form from Himedia player to your AVR which guarantees the best sound for given equipment - I would bet that all decent AVRs does much better DAC then Himedia player. Therefore use either SPDIF or HDMI, whichever your AVR/amplifier is able to use.

Just try it and if you like the sound continue to listen to it. The on-board DAC is good.

Most Android devices convert stereo (like FLAC audio flies) 44.1kHz (and maybe also up from 196kHz) and 24bit to 48.kHz and 16bit. At least that what I've read (also from complaining users on this forum). It's some kind of Android limitation.

As to be a bit subjectively specific: I didn't liked the sound of the analogue outputs with KODI or the "stock" HiMusic player for music at all (for movies it was OK), but I've tried also with Poweramp and i did get much better quality results. If the output is on the analogue RCAs choosing the right playback application can make a huge difference!

All this was on 1.0.9 firmware. Maybe the it's better on a newer fw version for the KODI an the stiock music player, but I've not done any in-deep test so far.

it might be years too late a reply, my himedia Q5 pro rca analog outputs are connected to my marantz stereo amplifier for listening to spotify connect. i could not fault the sound quality compared to hdmi connection to my hime theater avr. i suppose the Q5 pro DAC does a good job of delivering analog signal as well.
