Title: How to enable Microphone?
Post by: Mount81 on March 02, 2018, 06:19:27 AM
Hello!

I have an airmouse (iWeipoo GT01) with microphone function. The microphone works decent on a Windows PC, but on Q10 Pro it just doesn't and I couldn't figure out how to enable it. Searched everywhere in the settings, but haven't find such an option at all.

Have tested with Google and YouTube voice search , but pressing the microphone button on the airmouse (and talk) just doesn't make anything at all.

How could I make it to work?

I'm on OFW 2.0.6.

Thank you!

In windows is detected  as a "standard"  Bluetooth device or did you had to install drivers?

It's not a Bluetooth, it's a 2.4GHz radio airmouse. And just as I plug in to my PC, it is recognized immediately and it's driver is installed automatically.
I have it's microphone listed under the sound devices as "Microphone - Smart Control". Works flawlessly (on Windows).

No such luck with Q10 Pro so far... :-\

If you have a OTG cable you can try another Android device just to know if it's a issue with Android or the Q10

@Mount81
Try in CFW/ATV CFW with Google Assistant by manually pressing microphone button on Assistant then press microphone on remote too.
If by miracle this working enjoy voice control with Google Assistant if not let try fixed on private conversions.

I suppose iWeipoo GT01 have adverted to be supported on Android TV device.

-> Sorry, but couldn't get what you mean by that exactly...?! Edit: Ok, so you suggest me to test it on a mobile/tablet? Could have a try, but I guess that shouldn't be the issue. As -on another thread- I have earlier explained the issue, that even the mouse sensitivity of the airmouse couldn't be controlled by the firmware's settings. HiMedia needs to fix this, or I need some kind of third party application to get around... ?!

pcristi: No, thanks, no more CFW's in respect to my latest experiences with CFW 2.0.6.  But would really like to see an independent hotfix/patch  for this issue for OFW 2.0.6, if it's possible that way. Is it? (as it was for the "app GUI issue").

Thanks!

Edit: Maybe if I install an "Assistant application" (have seen something related in the settings menu) from play store to enable this function in the setting? But witch one, if there's any that would work?

Or is it any good -in my case- to install the so called :"Google app"? Nova Launcher calls for it on the top search bar, but when I click it, just says "app not installed"... Could be?

I have Installed the Google app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox) (couldn't find the official "Googel Assistant" in the PlayStore, just a couple like these third party "Assistants (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=google%20assistant&c=apps)") and it works on OFW as well.

Maybe installing the "lightweight version" Google Go (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.assistant) would be enough as well?
Or an app like "Voice Search (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=voice%20search&c=apps)"?

I have typed exactly "google assistant" in PlayStore on Q10 Pro, but didn't get this as result. :???

Anyone knows the answer to my questions, that what app is more "lightweight"  and can still enable the microphone function with it? I don't want any of them slow down the CPU and eat up much memory on the Q10 Pro...

The "Google" app works for now, but I guess it has many other features that I don't need at all...
