Title: What to buy ?
Post by: pvin on September 18, 2015, 11:11:57 PM
Hi
Which model do you recommend to me ?
Two principal uses:
1 / Use Kodi thumbnails to view my photos and slideshow files ont 4k TV
2 / To see on 4k TV my MP4 H264 files produced by Panasonic GH4 with sound included of course!

If the 4K content is 4K30 max then Q5/Q10 are the better products right now. Firmware is better, 10 months of development behind it. Best video image quality.

If content is 4K60 then H8. Still on first firmware release, a bit shaky in places. New firmware coming this week (fingers crossed) which will be a big improvement (we have tested beta). H8 is near double raw power of Q5/Q10.

Ok thanks !
Last questions before to order Q10 :
Can it  read video files : MTS, MPEG2, MPEG4, AVI, MOV, (it's all I have)
For JPEG pictures more than 10 mega pixels, no problems to read in 4K with Kodi ?
Thanks for your kind help.

Yes it can play MTS, MPEG2, MPEG4, AVI, MOV.

I tested it with the 80 megapixel sample image here (https://archive.org/details/80MegapixelsCameraSampleImage) and it displayed normally. Took maybe 5 seconds to load the 10,328 x  7,760 image though!

Just to clarify, Kodi is 1080p max for interface and photo display. 4K in kodi only works with wrapper so video and not photos.

Any Android app (e.g. Quickpic) will display photos at the system resolution. It's a limitation of Kodi Android that it is 1080p max.

I would use Kodi with wrapper. Kodi will auto generate thumbnails and with wrapper you can play 4K.

Hi I got the machine, better than my zappiti player  but I only found on android market " XBMC/Kodi Wrapper " and it is quite difficult for me to understand what can i do with that.
Is it the good soft you told me ?
I tried different soft on android market, no one can read UHD MP4 from my panasonic GH4 with 4k resolution.
So please tell me what I can do ?
Thanks

Wrapper is not in Play Store (name for Android Market since 2012). It is here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=60.0

It's best installed on a clean install of Kodi, so I recommend either reinstalling Kodi or reinstalling firmware first. Unless you have setup you want to preserve it's probably easier to reinstall firmware: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=254.0

Dear Sir,
Thanks for reply but I got my HiMedia Q5/Q10 4K3D last saturday and here http://www.futeko.com/products/MP059.php it is written : "From 18-SEP onwards we ship all Q10 4K3D with firmware 3.0.1.1 including Kodi 15.0, Chrome browser, Skype, Facebook, Youtube, Netflix, Dolby ATMOS, Miracast and 23.976 native support."

So If you recommend me to reinstall by myself firmware and soft, it means it have not been well installed in the chinese Factory, so it cannot give me satisfaction !

I bought this machine especially because you wrote me "the 4K content is 4K30 max then Q5/Q10 are the better products right now. Firmware is better, 10 months of development behind it. Best video image quality"  and now it doesn't work for Panasonic 4K MP4 30 images/sec !
Sorry for my english, do you understand me ?

Can you point me to the 4K30 file that doesn't work? Or a sample?

If you want 4K30 you'll need to play the file in either the Himedia android player ('Media Centre' from main menu) or Kodi with wrapper pre-installed (see here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=60.0). Also Settings - Display needs to be set to 4K resolution.

You have the latest firmware. If you bought it from us we will always install the latest firmware before shipping.

Well it works well with Media Center. I have not tried that before. Kodi still not work properly but one soft with Media Center is enough for me.
I leave in 3 hours for 4 week holidays so I will make better after coming back home.
Of course I bought from you !
Great thanks for your help and kindness
