Title: Samba share , VNC, HiControl - not working
Post by: mencwelp on September 17, 2015, 08:56:06 AM
Hello,
I have buy my H8 octa, and I'm very happy with performance and so on.
It is connected to my local network via Ethernet cable .

I do have flowing issues :
1 . I'm unable to share HDD connected via USB port to my local network
After testing two samba servers, one is requesting root permission but SU binaries are not available !
second app can be executed but sharing is unsuccessful.

Can you please explain why samba service is not installed by default for me such functionality is essential for network device ?
Where I can find firmware with SU binaries installed by default ?

2. HiControl app is not able to find my H8 ocat .
I have try switching form Ethernet to WiFi but without any success
can you please advice ?

3 I'm unable tu run droid vnc server as well ,any idea why ?

Best Regards
PM

1. At the moment SAMBA sharing from the H8 (i.e. H8 as SAMBA server like Q5/Q10) is not possible. It's not been advertised as a feature anywhere by us or Himedia. The H8 is a player only. I have added it to the feature request list.
2. Similar, Hicontrol (android remote app compatible with earlier Himedia products) is not compatible with H8 yet.
3. Droid VNC requires the box to be rooted. H8 is not rooted. We do not recommend rooting it.
