Title: Black Bars
Post by: sjalevaeger on December 23, 2017, 01:55:11 PM
Hello,
Today i received my q10 pro. I installed the firmware 2.0.6. The player works well but have 1 problem.

The black bars on top en at the bottom are big. Is there a way to decrease these bars? Or witch player i need tou use. I thought that these issues were fixed.

Thanx in advantage

How thick are those black bars? It they're are like this: http://images2.static-bluray.com/reviews/13182_1.jpg (http://images2.static-bluray.com/reviews/13182_1.jpg)-> than it's normal in the case of real BD sources. That's how the original video is made, in a different aspect ratio than your 16:9 TV. The black bars are encoded in the video source, so you can't juts simply remove them. If you want to watch it without black bars than you need the 1920x800 (usually) "cropped" version of the video, that has the black bars removed and set the "Full screen" option in the Playback menu. But this will slightly (by the size of the original back bars) stretch the original ratio of picture to fit you'r TVs screen.

Hi Mount81,

Thanx for your reaction.

I can't really tell, because the angle of your photo extorts the picture, but the top bar seems to be thicker than the bottom. They should be equal.  If they aren't equal than there's definitely something wrong. Otherwise It all will depend on the aspect ratio of the video. Is this the same with all of the BD videos?

Can you take another picture in all middle positioned from a video and a picture from the Android interface?

Here's how common ratios should look like on a 16:9 TV: https://www.the-home-cinema-guide.com/dvd-aspect-ratio.html (https://www.the-home-cinema-guide.com/dvd-aspect-ratio.html)

To decrease (or eliminate) the black bars the video player should permit to zoom and scale. Kodi permits that, HiMedia doesn't.
I think this feature should be A MUST in a video player.
The videoplayer in Windows 10 has it!!!
