Title: Amazon Prime Video app not working
Post by: rdksrk2016 on November 19, 2017, 02:45:18 AM
I have a version 2.0.5 on my Q10 pro.

I have an issue with Amzon Prime Video for which I have membership.

After starting streaming of any item in the Amazon Prime video app - it reports app failure and shutsdown reperteadly.

I had tried reloading the APP a couple of times but still does not play the video and crashes within a few seconds.

Does anyone face the same problem.

how can this be solved ?

Thanks in advance

I think HiMedia is not interested to solve that.
I wrote about this "problem" when we were at 2.0.0. Now we are at 2.0.6.

Neither Futeko seems interested to solve this. Prime Video a prime app for streaming online movies is never available with Android 7 versions. Pathetic.

It's a pity because the apk would permit to download and then watch. The apk in my sony doesn't do that.

Has any of you tried CFW? I had some issues with Netflix on an older official firmware, but it was working properly on the CFW. Also, please remember Futeko is just delivering messages to Himedia, he cannot fix anything.

Amazon Prime Video don't works on Himedia Q10 Pro only or on all Android 7 device?

It is also not working on Q5 Pro here. This is also not working with the 2.04 Firmware till 2.06.
The App opens once you choose a video it shows a screen that the App shuts down now.

I have a feeling , that Himedia only interested in video piracy,
There is no Amazon Prime video support, Netflix 4k or support for any other legit services .
YouTube 4k not working great either.

That is just load of bullshit. This box, like many others, is not Widevine certified. All of those apps are working, but the maximum resolution (at least for Netflix) is 960x540. HiMedia does not support piracy in any way. The fact that Amazon Prime fails to launch may very well be Amazon's fault, that is only interested to have its app on Fire devices only. You should keep reporting that Amazon app fails to Futeko until they fix it. I see that I recommended to use CFW, but none of you tried that. Stop talking trash and try some of the provided suggestions.

+1. The primary reason the apps mentioned do not work to full potential on Q5/Q10 Pro (and the same with nearly all other products) is because the creators of the apps don't want them to. Netflix / Amazon etc have their preferred hardware (usually for financial reasons) and try to push users towards those devices. There's not much HiMedia can do about it.

But...
If smart Tvs play Amazon Prime why Q10 can't do that?
Agreements between Sony, Samsung and Amazon?
So... HiMedia should call Amazon and ask for explanation because, if there is an apk in the PlayStore IT MUST WORK with every device!!!!!

It is not the case that all apps in Play Store must work with every device. I have no idea where you got that from.

Sony and Samsung are two of the largest electronics brands in the world (Samsung sold 46 million smart TVs last year, Sony 11 million - link (https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20170202005472/en/TrendForce-Reports-Global-LCD-TV-Shipments-Grew)), Himedia are vastly smaller. That is why HiMedia cannot just call Amazon or Netflix and expect them to bow to their demands.

The only way to guarantee Amazon Prime TV works is to buy an Amazon device, and that's exactly how Amazon want it to be.

A same like many other developer witch public application on Google Play, Amazon have to fix they mobile application for work on Android box TV event will offer just SD resolution(720x480) because of unlicensed device.

Maybe Amazon start to think to open Prime Video - Android TV to other not just for SHIELD Android TV or Sony TV with special vendor apk.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amazon.amazonvideo.livingroom&hl=en
For moment Google play list Prime Video - Android TV not compatible with any Android TV device as I know.

Hi any 1
I had the old Q10, ( not the PRO version ! with Android probably 4... and somethig). I can confirm that on that old device Amazon Prime Video was working perfectly. And it's still working at the moment.
Probably i think there is some war between Amazon and Google
In my opinion HiMedia, in this case, is not responsable.
Ciao

I beg to differ a little. Amazon has all the interest in the world for people to use their Fire tablets, their TVs and so on in order to control streaming. This is why they do not offer support or do not care if some customers cannot run Amazon Prime Video on other devices then the Amazon devices.

As for Netflix, they are not interested in giving the recognition to small vendors like HiMedia. I had a Beelink device before and Beelink tried to get their TV boxes Netflix certified. Netflix replied they do not care about it and and are not interested to work with them.

We can be as enraged as we can, but the market is not a free one and there are constraints. It is like filing a bug for someone not interested in fixing it. Better not file the bug then.

Agree.

But beelink. REALLY? They have a very horrible history in caring for their devices.
Most devices only got 1 year with firmware support, usually they never fixed the bugs the community collected.

I know that because I once ways member of such a group with direct contact to a developer.
Some day this guy just disappeared and much later we got the notice he got fired.  ::)

I did not know much about TV boxes before I bought Beelink. It does not matter that Beelink wrote Netflix, it just shows Netflix's strategy. Beelink are still selling a lot of devices, although their software support is indeed very bad.

On-topic: we should maybe repeatedly contact Amazon to make the app work on a lot more devices. It may be the only way we can have it working on Q10 Pro.

Apply this patch (http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2928.msg22732#msg22732) to get Amazon Prime Video app working and play on SD resolution, HD/4K resolution are another story...

Why watch it is SD??
This is the same deal with Netflix.. SD only.  And that is what they claim is "SD" which AFAIC is less than 360h, probably 240h horizontal resolution (US standards).

720h looks more like 480h (DVD resolution) and 1800p is more like 720p anytime I have seen any of these feeds on approved devices.

Ten feet away from a 100" screen.
I feel sorry for your eyes.  ::)

If you think you can view either 'pay' service on a unauthorized device in the full resolution they offer, you got another thing coming.

pcristi rocks Indeed!

Call it a miracle. I applied this patch in my Q10 Pro and Prime Video started working, hold on!, not only in SD quality, its HD as well. Checked with the output from the AVR which shows as 1920X1080p, HDMI input is RAW :-)

Awesome Patch by pcristi :-)

Here, on Q10, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix run fine basically, if not for the sound, which is Stereo only :-(

why would I want to watch NETFLIX and AMAZON VIDEO in SD anyway!?

You would be surprised on just how many have NO clue of thew quality/resolution level they are watching including ones with 100" front projectors .  ::)

These media players always output on the resolution that you have set in the Display settings, so if you have set 1080p than even if the source video is SD or 720p it will be upscalled to 1080p.  As there's no auto resolution switching on Android media players.

+1, I'm always incomprehended regarding these threads sticking to Netflix and Amazon. Maybe HiMedia (and the resellers) should communicate more clearly that it will only support SD quality, but other than that what's the good in watching the streams in SD on a 200$ up-to-date media player anyway?

Not to argue, just for the record.

Fake news!  Verdict is in, the services work, but they ares till in SD! As I said, it's amazing on how many can't tell the difference.  ::)

Well, the video output is 1920X1080p, Audio input is PCM 2.0.

Sorry for the pic quality, taken from a mobile phone camera in low light. Pic quality in the TV is far better.

Be careful where you the information about its actual resolution. My TV shows that the signal on-screen is fullHD on any content I am playing, even Netflix. The TV may do an upscale. After I was able to see Netflix in fullHD I was able to tell the difference between the lower resolution and the actual fullHD resolution from Netflix.

That 2nd shot, the info display, it that from  your Sony TV or from the Q10?

Go into your Routers menu and to the page that shows active bandwidth usage. What are the maximum peaks showing? Less than 3Mbps or well over 10 Mbps?

I have used Amazon Official Firestick too with same TV. Could tell much difference in the Full HD content from either sources i.e. Q10 Pro and Firestick.

Yes, Full HD content from Netflix is at par and more superior.

My TV is 8 years old Sony Bravia 40EX710 and is not an upscaling one.

May be @pcristi would like to throw some light on the issue.

Can you tell me which version of the Amazon Prime App works?
I installed version 3.0.227.29641, when I launch to see a movie, the application crashes.

There is no solution other than to (probably) use the browser. Amazon has even more harsh rules than Netlix.
