Thanks much, I expected it to reset my box to factory but it did not. still booted to my custom launcher and all my apps are in place.
Under the about tab it is showing
android 4.4.2
Kernal version 3.10.0_s40
Build # HMD-3.0.1 2015-09-09.10
UPDATE
Im definitely going back the the standard you-tube, this version is horrible, Im on lan and it keeps freezing to buffer. Also its not avail in the play store, google play don't even show it as installed, so when you-tube makes some code changes there will be no updates to this version. Looks like they modified the old android tv version of you tube for this

Firstly i must say that i appreciate the work of the developers and i really love my Q10 but the latest firmware is a bit of a disaster for me. It downloaded and installed ok but apon testing i found it was unusable. Really noticable was video stutter, audio lip sync problems, lack of previously available menu options for video set-up, pressing menu on remote does not display any set-up options as in the previous firmware etc etc ...
I'm going to re-check to make sure if it's not something i have introduced by mistake otherwise i'll have to go back to previous firmware which was spot on for me.
Thanks again team for your work.

Hi, thanks to let us know, i will wait till some-others test in deep, i don't have problems, but upgrades are always welcomed, if helps!

So far I dont see any problems at all short of the Chitty you-tube version

>> So far I dont see any problems at all short of the Chitty you-tube version << ....
I must admit I wasn't expecting the results I got after upgrade to ver3.0.1. I tried a factory re-set after the initial first test of 3.0.1 to see if it needed that to rectify my problems but that made no difference.
I will go back to 1.0.9.1 which was stable and good with me to establish a fully functional box, and then attempt another install of 3.0.1

My menu button does not work either, But it never has for me. The other problem I was having was until 3.0.3 my clock drove me nutz stuck on 24hr time.. Strange too because in new firmware if I put it on Eastern time its 24 hr, If i leave it on china standard its 12 hr with the correct time for me. Update 24Hr time came back on its own Gremlins

.... Well, managed to back track to ver 1.0.9.1, reloaded wrapper etc etc and all ok as before with only the very shortest of video micro stutter randomly, which I lived with ok because the rest of the players capabilities are excellent for me. Reloaded 3.0.1 again, but not the re-set button / front on-off button method .... instead still used the usb stick but selected the drive method from software and loaded it that way with no problems. Re-installed Kodi 15.2 + Wrapper and all ok with full remote functions as before. I still see the odd video micro stutter as before so I need to do a bit more digging to see if I can track the real cause down.
It does seem a bit faster on operation I think, but not had chance yet to test any 3D content out.
Wether this is just coincidental or what, but during all this firmware swapping re-installing etc, my Synology NAS has thrown up a disk error which it is in the process of doing a repair on itself ??.

3 units of Q10 spread in different rooms and decided to upgrade one unit.
Noticed after the upgrade the Q10 took 43seconds to start up whereas before it was 21sec.
Delay is Bearable as the new media player has improved. Better audio and picture quality.
On music tracks the dark blue background is very much welcomed as the previous aqua shade was just to bright.
No issues on Youtube playback.
Menu Button works on bluray iso files like before. Unfortunately still BD-Menu lite and not full BD Menu.
Will use the 3.0.1 firmware more before upgrading the other units.

.... just watched a complete movie and for me the random micro stutters are the same as before, no worse, no better. Agree about the boot up time .... about double the previous but not too much of a problem.
What really gets on my nerves is the fact that every movie starts with the subtitles going and it's a pain to have to fumble with the remote to stop them. A default "OFF" would be most welcome.
Apart from that i'm still of the opinion that this is the best player i have ever owned & used and have no intention of giving up on it ;D

Hi, you mean upgrade to new firmware from android?, i haven't see it, i will try tomorrow.
Thanks

Watched a movie last night. Micro stutters on dts HD MA were so bad that I had to change it to DTS surround instead, which was fine. Of far more concern though was the picture cut out twice for about 5 seconds each time, resuming from where it left off when it recovered. I honestly don't know if this is a firmware issue or whether my box is dying. I still have the same lip sync issues that I always have too,but only on Truehd soundtracks. I actually gave the himedia box the benefit of the doubt and replaced my AV receiver last week as it was quite old anyway, but my brand new Marantz is exactly the same, making it indisputably the Q5 the cause of the problems. I know I was in the minority with my Truehd issues, but has anyone else experienced these other issues? If it's a hardware issue rather than a software one I think I'd probably be happier as this is driving me crazy!
-
@ Chocco, don't see video drop out's as severe as that .... using a Denon 7200 here through a Sony es55 PJ.
3.0.1 isn't really offering up any improvements for me really, I only use the Q10 to stream .iso movies from my Synology NAS and love it for it's superior user adjustment features for video & audio quality output onto a 120" dia screen. The only slight fly in the ointment for me is the random micro stutters. Ver 3.0.1 might have introduced a very slight lip-sync issue with me I think which I noticed when looking at "Birdman" movie last night which i'm sure was not noticeable when it was last viewed a few weeks ago using ver1.0.9.1 . Think I will go back to 1.0.9.1 to make sure lol ..... think i'm getting paranoid lol :-)
-
..... meant to also say that I have tried YouTube on ver 3.0.1 after seeing problems reported but all seems to be fine here with smooth video
-
Hi, the only complain about the update is the slow boot, mine in 3.0.1 more than minute, with 1.0.9 less than 30 seconds, will be great if that new "bug" of slow boot is fixed soon.
Thanks

The 7.1 audio stutters might be network / processing bandwidth related rather than audio. Where are the files located? Do you get the same problems playing from local USB?
-
Hi, I wish it were so, but I am connected to my NAS via LAN and have plenty of bandwidth overhead. I have tried streaming off an attached USB stick with the same results. I make my comparisons against my old Popcorn Hour which doesn't have the same issues. It's clear that no one else is experiencing these issues as badly as me so it must be a hardware issue for me (i.e. dodgy box) rather than anything else. As a last ditch effort I'm going to downgrade to 1.0.9 as I can't remember experiencing issues before the 1.0.9.1 update and see how it goes. I'll let you know, thanks.

I am experiencing a boot time of about 33 seconds until you see the launcher, and its about 40 seconds until network connect.
I do however have a rooted box as well as using Looun's mount script, I also remove all the air/dlna crap from my box because I don't use it.
-
I timed the Q5 boot at 36 seconds earlier. Q10 won't be much different.

.....still using ver1.0.9.1 after reversing back from 3.0.1 to try and pinpoint a possible cause of this micro stutter i decided to do / try two things to my set-up.
1/ Iv'e fed the Q10's psu from a mains conditioner / filter in the possibility there might be some mains voltage interference ?.
2/ On my Synology NAS , in Network Interface, i have enabled "Jumbo Frame" and set to MTU 9000.
Just watched a few clips, Mad Max Fury Road-3D-Atmos & a couple more that i have noticed stutter on and i didn't see any stutter.
I'm going to try some more tomorrow

Hello,
After multi test , the right thing is to use that way with custom firmwares Q10 http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=172.0
This is actualy the best way to read all without any problem. I don't have anyway stutter or anything else.
If you want use that way also to have the HD Audio way with the HimediaWrapper
http://www.android-mediaplayer.de/index.php/Thread/1897-Tool-Auto-Mount-Multimedia-shared-folder-without-root-HImedia-Q5-3D4k/
Think that Himedia must make more testing before uploading the firmware and have lots of problems as well.
Thanks

okay updated to the new firmware and all seems okay ?
but I don't see the NEW media player as I do when updating my M3 with the same version (M3 version that is) and still have the OLD BD Lite style menus (and Ghosting). Unfortunately I don't use my M3 for 3D movies so cant comment if the 3D exp has now improved..btw I have deff upgraded as my Q10 now displays the new firmware version on the box settings.!!!
So should the Q10 like the M3 and Q5 now be using the new media player or is that to come later.

With the new update, my q10 boots in around 30/35seconds.

New media centre is in both Q5 and Q10 new firmwares.
It's possible that if you installed using the update menu method then the new media centre wasn't installed. If so then try a clean install using the reset button method outlined in the firmware thread.
-
Okay Thanks Futeko
I will try that method tonight..!
-
Hi Futeko.
Tried the Update method as per instructions to do a clean install but the firmware update is just the same..
But when I said the Media Centre has not changed maybe I should have said that Media Player has not changed.
In my Himedia M3 update I have a new Media Player (with Black and White) menus, but my Q10 Media player is just the same old version..?

It's very difficult to achieve perfect playback on all files. Can you could attach mediainfo reports for files you're having problems with?
Most people have seen an improvement in the latest firmware.
And Q5/Q10 are already the best Android boxes available for video format support / performance.

Have to agree with this statement, an absolutely sterling job by futeko support.

Modified opening post to add download link for 3.0.1.1.
The only difference in the new firmware vs 3.0.1 is that it adds back the Miracast app and Miracast functionality.
-
Tried 3.0.1.1 and nothing happens trying to play .avi or .mkv files via Media Center. Also noticed quite a bit of extra lag navigating through various menus.
It's back to 1.0.9.1 for me. :-\

Did you do a clean install of 3.0.1.1? i.e. booting whilst pressing the restore button on the back? avi / mkv definitely play and there shouldn't be any more lag.
-
I went through settings -> update -> local to retain config/shortcuts/etc. It only works if you do a clean install?

Not necessarily. It depends on what's installed.
Installing using the menus will keep remnants of config that can interfere with the new firmware + apps. A clean install is always best.
Kodi setup can be backup up using this add-on: http://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Backup
If you mean the media centre shortcuts I'm not sure they can be backed up.

they are problem with this update frezzen all apps and closed by selv

These days I tested Himedia q10 on my Sony KDL-65w855a as well as on the Panasonic TX-P65VT65, Marantz SR7008 AV Receiver. I play only ISO, bluray REMUX and MKV (DTS-HD and TrueHD) movies (Grym, Sparks, PublicHD torrent files). Problems:
1) Freezing videos. In almost every movie the image is frozen once (it happens at random) and it takes about 30 seconds, after that movie is going normally.
2) Every couple of seconds to a minute audio and video stutter that exist on any video file that you start (this is quite disturbing and shocking). Only after the reset, the problem disappears and re-appears after some time (a few hours). When this starts to happen, it happens in every video file.
This is a great shame for the Q10, which is valid for the best device of its kind and it is useless for serious cinema experience. Big disappointment. :(
Additional observation:
Default built-in media players on my TVs play smoother movies than Himedia player. On it, there is a slight microstutter on any video file (but it already finesse and barely noticeable).
TVs are calibrated so that Himedia Imprex only violates the calibrated image.
3D I have not tested.
All tested on the following settings: 24p ON, HDMI Output: RAW, HBR Output: RAW 7.1 and 2 TB internal NTFS drive. (Tested and with another external drive with identical problems) Firmware 3.0.1.1
-
Try this way by the CS firmware and make it not by the Upgrade.
