Title: Stuttering on Q5Pro
Post by: redderflag on November 02, 2017, 09:58:09 PM
I cant get Q5 Pro to play 4k movies. Lots of stuttering. I may have some setting wrong.

My setup is Marantz Receiver SR7000, Epson 5030 projector. Files stored on network. Using SMB to connect to network folders.

The wrapper is set to play all of the videos instead of Kodi . Firmware is latest 2.0.6.

The files are HEVC 10Bit.

1080p files bigger in size than the 4K files are playing fine. I checked the drive and network. Seems to be fine.

The current settings are 24Ghz on, Display is 1080p 60ghz (doesnt allow me to change it). I tried setting the Imprex engine on and off..no effect..

In KODI settings: Disable media mediacodec  (surface)

Advance settings are set to YCbCr422

What should be the ideal settings for the HiMedia Player to play them correctly in my scenario? Please help!

Is it the wrapper definitely playing the files? Whilst playing a file press remote menu key, what sort of menu do you get? you should get a mostly text menu in bottom left corner.

Do the files play OK through HiMedia media center (accessed from home screen)? Performance from this player and Kodi+wrapper will be identical.

From FAQ about checking for and reinstalling wrapper:

* How to check wrapper is installed? Run Kodi and navigate to Videos - Files - any video file. Press remote menu key. You should get a 'play using..' option with 'Wrapper' as an option.
* How to reinstall wrapper? Shutdown Kodi. Find wrapper app at My Apps - Wrapper. Select 'use Kodi player'. Exit wrapper app. Run wrapper app again. Select 'use wrapper player'. Exit wrapper app. Restart Kodi.

Kodi settings (mediacodec etc) are irrelevant when using wrapper. Main system settings are the one to look at. Settings - Playback. 24Hz should be on.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, the media player is playing the files. I tried playing with the 24Ghz setting on as suggested. Now they seem to be fine. Thanks a lot for your help!
