I have a big hope in this fw.
Support for .ass subs sounds promising, hope it will include external .ass subs as well. And it anticipates, that they -may- have fixed -at last- the internal subs issue going around with 2.x.x fws a very long ago... Please have a test on these as well...
Will see...

I just installed the new firmware. I see that the Lan search in the Media Player doesnt work. I have to put the IP manually to detect my network devices :(
Bluray 4k full menus work good with the patch too. But only one movie 4k doesnt work with menu (Patriots Day 4k)
Hope fix these little issues soon
Regards

Thanks for the feedback. LAN search works OK here, so we need more testing to see what/if the problem is.

Still no HD audio passthrough on kodi
-
When can we expect HD audio passthrough on kodi?
So far the Q10 Pro got useless without HD audio passthrouh. We rather prefer to get this issues fixed than getting unusefull firmware updates.
Is it possible to get a better zoom function om the Q10 Pro as the Himedia 900B had to get rid of black bars? Very handy tool thats not working on Q10 Pro.
BUT most important, fix HD audio passthrough on kodi please!
-
Imprex flickering still present?
-
Also found that 4K streaming on Kodi is constantly buffering from all sources via kodi.

Any experiences on these yet?

Hi,
I have installed the new firmware and updated Kodi via the Play store. However, with firmware 2.0.5 I could select to start the full menu after starting a movie. But with the new firmware opening the full menu is not offered anymore after I started a movie. Also when playing a movie I can't open the full menu via the menu that opens by pressing the menu button on the remote.
Does anybody have an idea?

How to install without wiping the system clean again?
Netflix crash fix was promised in the FAQ in "next firmware" , is it fixed? Not in the changelog.

From Himedia:
"
Firmware upgrade from Settings Menu (user data will not be cleared)
1.Download a new firmware and place the firmware onto the ROOT directory of a USB drive.
2.Plug the USB drive into an empty USB HOST on the SMART TV BOX.
3.Go to Settings?System?System upgrade to select/click the letter of the USB drive.
4.The SMART TV BOX will begin upgrading the firmware from the USB drive.
5. Wait for the SMART TV BOX to complete the upgrade. Please be patient as it may take around 5 minutes to complete.
6. When finished, The SMART TV BOX will auto reboot. "

I am having the same issue - do we need to apply the BD-menu patch here or if there a enabling step we are missing, for menus to work on firmware 2.0.6 ?

The BD menu patch is not pre-installed in 2.0.6. I was incorrect in earlier posts to say that it would be. It is compatible with 2.0.6 and can be installed from here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2291.0
The reason for it not being included is not technical. I can't say more. :-X

Hi Futeko, thank you very much for your previous supports. I sorted all the problems I had before. I am planning to update the Q10 to the latest firmware. Should I install [PATCH] Mount storage by UUID / Label again after system updating or it is contained in the firmware?

If you did the update by restore button it needs to be reinstalled.
If you updated using system menu (which is not recommended) then it may still be there. If not then reinstall.
-
Installed from flash drive (from 2.0.5) using simple Upgrade path from Settings menu.
Kodi 17.5.1 and all Q10 settings remained intact except for losing the "0" Stop key remote function. Will just run patch again as it has dropped off previously and is the one patch I still use.
HD Audio passthrough working fine from Kodi still, using wrapper.
Blu-ray iso full menus still working fine as I had installed patch with 2.0.5.
LAN found new network drive (6Tb WD Cloud) easily.
All good for me so far. Main use is local playback from HDD's and Network NAS.

How about the Netflix crash fix? Is it included?
Netflix worked in 2.0.5 and works in 2.0.6. Netlflix fixed whatever was causing the crash in some earlier Netflix versions.
It's still not in Play Store so you need to download it from apkmirror or similar.

Still no HD audio passthrough on kodi
....why do you think, HD passthrough does not work??
From My Experience this works perfectly fine as Long as you have activated this Option in Kodi.
Best,
-
He is using Kodi native Player, not himedia Player via wrapper

Best,
If you check your decoder you will find that the audio is in PCM format and not trueHD passthrough even if you select transcoding option to give digital output its not trueHD, so yes you will have sound but its not trueHD passthrough. One example is I have a movie with Dolby Atmos playing through Wrapper all is well and you get Dolby Atmos soundtrack. Stream the same movie to Kodi and you are downgraded to PCM audio.

I am based in the USA and have version 2.05 firmware installed. Is it recommended to used the firmware update posted in the himedia website to bring it up to 2.06?
-
hello I currently have custom 2.0.6 PCristi FW installed, where the /system partition indicates only about 77MB free space. Can anyone tell me what the free space on the /system partition is with the Official FW? My box is rooted & want to install some system mods (specifically the A.R.I.S.E audio suite). Thanks.
-
Note that when I try to update to firmware 2.06, whether from the hard drive or a USB stick, the Q10 Pro says no firmware upgrade found. I have firmware 2.05 installed, and I even tried resetting the Q10 Pro to factory settings.
-
Make sure that the file Name is update.zip. I downloaded the 2.0.6 from HiMedia Support and noticed that the filename was update_q10.zip
I simply renamed it before copying to my usb stick and then the update worked fine.
-
THat did not work for me. I renamed it to Update.Zip and selected to update through the menu selection. The unit rebooted, and all the settings and apps were stripped The unit is still on firmware 2.05, and reset to factory settings. Help !!!!
How can i get my unit to version 2.06 ? I am located in the USA.
-
I should also note that I have tried this upgrading with the file stored on the internal hard drive and from a USB stick. No luck either way.

Follow link and instructions form page 1 of this thread! There is no need to rename the correct file, download from link and simply extract the update.zip file to a USB drive.
It will update from Settings/Update (assuming your firmware 2.0.5 is correctly installed).
Doing it this way kept all my settings, apps and Kodi 17.5.1 fully in tact.
If you are still having issues, you may need to use the recommended "pin method" to update. This resets everything to default settings.
-
Whenever I extract the files from PKZip, it reports 7 errors, yet extracts the files. This happened also in version 2.05, yet i was able to successfully install the firmware in zip form.
I am guessing the reason for the errors is because maybe the zip file contains duplicate directory names, and yet the Q10 box knows how to extract and install the files correctly into that box ?
Let me know before I try downloading the newer file using the instructions you just enclosed. I will try this out tomorrow, as it is bedtime for me now.
-
OK, I tried as you suggested. I downloaded the zip file again, extracted the files to a USB drive. I encountered one duplicate file related to audio during the extraction. There seems to be an audio file that is extracting to the same location of where a previous file was extracted.
I plug in the USB drive. I go to the settings screen, scroll to Upgrade, select the Local Upgrade, select USB2.0. It says no Upgrade File found.
And now I get a System UI has stopped - not because of trying to upgrade - but because I am downloading some streaming apps, and then select a few as favorite shortcuts. When I power off and restart the HiMedia Q10 Pro, I am greeted by this unpleasantry message.
I have removed them as favorite shortcuts. However, I am still getting this message.
-
Quick question.
I do not have a NAS drive and I do not use NFS sharing. My videos are in simple shared folders on a Windows 10 computer. The Guest account is enabled with no password, and unsecured logins are allowed via Group Policy.
With firmware 1.08 on my Q10 Pro, Kodi opens those folders via smb:// and uses Wrapper to play the files therein. No stuttering even in 4K movies since my home network is wired gigabit, and I get DTS-HD / Dolby TrueHD via my receiver.
One important fact on firmware 1.08 is neither Kodi nor Wrapper ever asked me for a Samba username and password. In fact, I did not have to open the Wrapper app at all. Everything just worked.
Then I followed the instructions to upgrade to firmware 2.06.
Update was successful, so I set Kodi up in exactly the same way. I added my shared folders and again, Kodi did not ask me for my SMB password. It could open all my Windows shares. But my videos would not play. What happens is the Wrapper app comes on screen and asks me for my Samba username and password. I never had to do this before.
If I set Wrapper to play via Kodi, Kodi plays my videos, but no HD surround sound. Of course, I want HD surround sound.
So my question is: what setting did I miss?

Did you extracted the files even from the update.zip file? You should not! Just copy the update.zip file as it is (unextracted) in the root of the Pendrive. And first of all -as also suggested one time above- read and INTERPRET the instructions in the first post carefully.
If all this still doesn't work:
Make sure you use a max 8GB capacity Pendrive formatted to FAT32.
Try the first USB slot on the left side of the Box, if it doesn't work, then go around and try the other slots in order.
-
Thanks. I tried unzipping the files to the USB drive to update, and using the update.zip file on the USB. Both attempts failed. I am using a 64GB USB drive as fat32 or exFAT32. And I also tried it from my 1.5TB drive as well which is formatted as NTFS.
If you suggest using an 8GB drive or less, i will see if i can find one.
Thankws for the suggestion and i will look for one.

Use tool like MiniTool Partition Wizard Free Edition (https://www.minitool.com/partition-manager/partition-wizard-home.html) to make smaller partition 4GB/8GB on your 64GB USB and format as FAT32 or NTFS then try recovery method, if fails try few consecutive times...

I was able to update the Q10 Pro to firmware 2.06. The two keys to success were:
1. Make sure to use an 8GB USB stick or of lesser size (format it in exFAT32 or FAT32)
2. Rename the download to update.zip. The firmware will not update if you leave the filename in its native download name.
Thanks much for your help !!!

Unfortunately for me, using a 64GB USB or a 64GB SD Card did not work for me. Nor having the zip file on a 1.5TB internal HD inside the unit did not work. It failed to update in all 3 scenarios.
The person who suggested to use an 8GB USB Stick or of less capacity did work. This is what worked for me on my Q10 Pro. So from my perspective, the suggestion is accurate since it is the only suggestion that worked. Note that I used a 1GB USB stick which the update was successful.

There is no ASS cinematic subtitles working in wrapper with new firmware 2.0.6, ASS cinematic subtitles only work in kodi player also SRT subtitle with italic format still not working on wrapper only works in kodi player.
With wrapper all my subtitle is known as India subtitle, in fact my subtitle is Indonesian but if I use kodi player then my subtitle is known correctly as Indonesian subtitle. As far as I know there is no India subtitle, there is only Hindi subtitle. I think Himedia should look at MKVToolNix because a lot of languages from many countries including country code for subtitle available there and can be used as default subtitle on wrapper.

When will HD audio passthrough in KODI finally be fixed?
The issue has been fixed in the custom firmware, but i prefer to stick with the original firmware.
-
Fully fixed (7.1, Atmos and DTS-X) or 5.1 only ?
-
HD Audio is NOT fixed in CFW
-
Working PERFECTLY ony my side.
Dolby Atmos + DTS-X WORK!

Also with streams in Kodi?

I upgraded to the new firmware and encountered a new issue today.
I was watching a movie from KODI,with the wrapper, and post an hour, there was no display/sound. all menus were operating properly, however ,display was all back.
i forwarded to the next chapter/previous chapter and it was still the same. Black.
By pressing on the return button twice, i exited the movie and was on the movies menu, played the movie again, however, same issue. no display, no sound.
i then switched over to a different movie and post an hour or so, encountered the same issue.
Has anybody experienced anything like this ?
(movies are within the internal harddisk)

Yes, that also happens with my Q10 even before this latest firmware version.
It's very random, watching the same movie twice it may or may not happen at any point;
It happened with two different brand new internal hard drives, the only peripheral I have is a external keyboard ;
In my case it happened mostly in the afternoon (can't remember once it happened at night) and with Mkv H264 files;
The subject was discussed in the forum but apparently is too rare;
I've contacted Himedia but they don't acknowledged the issue;
It doesn't happen with MX Player or Kodi Internal player;
My advice is if you don't want to have this problem stop using Himedia Player
-
Hey, thanks so much for replying .. I tried to play the same files again..but faced the same issue. I fast forwarded the file to watch it from where it was left, however again ,no display/sound.. tried playing without the wrapper. But same issue
-
harpreetz + stl:
I had similar issues with HiMedia Player while i was on a previous firmware (1.0.7 i guess) and used a -at that time- incompatible airmouse (A2 Lite). It only happened while the airmouse was connected to the box. It also caused other strange behavior. I have found that in these cases the freezed HiPlayer doesn't quit even if I ended the playback with the Back button (can be checked in the Settings->More/Running apps menu). However the issue has been fixed in fw 1.0.9 and now also the airmouse works perfectly.
Maybe you should try the same videos with all of your USB devices/peripherals unplugged from the Box.

You're experiencing a different problem than I did, maybe those files are corrupted. When it happened to me I would open the file again and just play it from where it stopped with no issues. Try MX player to see it it also happens.
-
Same files are playing perfectly on my desktop.. I will install mx player on Q10 pro and will try playing the files.
-
Imprex flickering still present?
On q5 yes, so I suppose on Q10 too, cuz it's the same s*.
Does 3D MKV's work for you guys?
I couldn't even play a basic 3D HSBS recently, it was constantly giving 2D image (one side stretched), even when I've cycled through all 3D options in himedia player.
3D was working fine several firmware updates ago, so something new got F* again.
I'm really starting to get pissed off more and more as the time passes, 1 year after purchase and there wasn't a single FW that had all I wanted working.
Sub problems (fixed after half a year or more), imprex problem, 3d problems... what's next?
-
Same files are playing perfectly on my desktop.. I will install mx player on Q10 pro and will try playing the files.
Your issue sounds to me like the internal hard drive is perhaps going to sleep and then not coming "back to life" to keep playing the video, giving you a black screen. Is your internal drive perhaps a "green"/power saving drive?
I play a lot of H264 movies and TV episodes (daily) from my Q10 and have not experienced your "black screen" problems described here.
Does the same problem occur if you play the file in from external USB drive or maybe from a network drive (if you have one)?
[Q10Pro firmware 2.0.6, HGST 4TB internal HDD, Kodi 17.6, Yamaha AVR, Windows 10 network]

Thanks everyone for your inputs. issue RESOLVED now.
Seems like there was an issue with the file. I deleted the file , moved it back to Q10 from my desktop and its working this time
Issue might have been due to transfer of file from computer to q10 earlier on.

Hi guys, im a new user for himedia q10 pro. Bought it from Malaysia. Currently my firmware is 5.1 (1.1.0). My question is, how do i know if my FIRMWARE IS FOR INTERNATIONAL/EUROPEAN HIMEDIA Q10 PRO or others. Im interested to upgrade it to Android 7. Tq
-
Quote from changelog:
2. ASS cinematic subtitles supported
->They're not. Tried both embedded .ass ans .ssa subs and both are displayed only with the Himedai Players default fonts, plain. No special formatting, fonts or whatsoever. So what does "supported" supposed to mean in Himedias language?
There are more important bugs for sure (like the analogue audio slip), but it suggests that Himedia has begun to ride the "placebo" firmware train.
Still no reply for my previous question for sure: when can we expect the next -hopefully real bugfix packed- firmware?
Thank you!
