You can use it as storage the same way as a SD card or external USB storage. Did you format it before installing inside the box?

Yes I did. But what will I store from the box to make use of the hard drive? I would like to download show to make use of it later on.
How do I do that?
My box came with no instructions.

That is software dependent, if the app you're using allows saving data to local storage then you can download to the hard drive. For example you can use a torrent app or install a software to download Youtube videos.

ANY THOUGHTS .........................
My Q10 will not show the hard drive
Heres my situation
all software bang up to date have tried the patch .still cant see the drive I CAN see the sda1 ( usb mem stick in side usb socket)
I can access all drives by LAN ( NFS) and CAN access the hard drive by ready share SO IT IS RECOGNISED as a hard drive but not by the Q10
The h/d has been formatted to NTFS

Hello there
I have the same problem. Formatted my drive the right way but it is not showing. I think it's a software problem.
-
Connect the hard drive to a windows PC and with disk management:
Delete all partitions
Check if its GTP, if not convert it
Create a new simple volume and format it
Backup before if you need to.
I think you can do this connecting the Q10 to a PC with a USB cable (printer cable).

Connect the printer cable at the BACK of Q10 Pro..
