Hi, new user and tried to post this also at egreatworld.com but something went wrong with creating a new account so for now unable to post there.
As a long time Popcorn Hour user I finally took the plunge and ordered the A5 to possible replace my Vten and A400.
It seems that the Vidon player when streaming from the network is limited around 130 Mbps, when streaming from local USB stick I didn't encounter any limit and was able to reach 400 Mbps without buffering. For testing I used the HEVC Jelly fish test files: http://jell.yfish.us/.
What i did and tried to resolve the buffering popup:
Force recovery firmware v1.1.0.7 and after that OTA to latest (that did solve the 23.976Hz micro stutter for me).
Tested my network speed by copying some files, average around 60 MB/s = 500 Mbps.
Used NFS (HaneWIN) instead off SMB (bit better results then SMB).
Direct cable (1 meter) between PC and A5 to rule out network (switch) problems.
Updated NIC driver PC.
Installed HaneWIN NFS on other PC to rule out primary PC.
Played with buffer settings in Vidon.
Played with "Easy Advanced Settings" plugin for Kodi.
Did a special dance around the A5.
Other user (Xavier) is reporting the same: http://en.egreatworld.com/comunity/index.php?threads/solved-buffering-problem-both-with-player-and-with-vidon-with-high-bitrate-4k-videos.687/
The native player performs better but is no option for me cause I like to use Vidon for my movie collection.
My questions:
Is the A5 Vidon player limited around 130 Mbps when streaming over the network?
Can and will this be improved by firmware?
Will Android 7 fix this?
As soon as my account is up and running at egreatworld.com I will make a thread there too.

Posting on the Egreat forum is a good idea because you'll get feedback and real world experience from multiple users.
Vidon is due to be updated to Kodi 18 when it's final. I'd expect the Vidon update to come in early 2018. Whether it would give higher bitrates I don't know. Testing of a Kodi 18 beta may give an indication.
Based on HiMedia HiSilicon hardware running Android 7, max bitrate is very similar Android 5.1 vs 7. If there is a problem here it's with Vidon because the Egreat Android player performs better.
130Mbps is a very high bitrate. Do you have any non-testing video at that bitrate or higher?

I have several 4k rips that have a brief buffering popup with "high bitrate scenes", when playing them with the builtin player they play without buffering.
If it was only the testfiles I wouldn't be worried :) and I know the chipset could decode even 400 Mbps without problem. I'm just a bit disappointed cause it is a full blown 4k player and I would expect it to play those "standard" 4k rips without buffering.
Will do some testing with newer Kodi.
Small update: Just tested with Kodi v17.5 "Krypton" and... No more buffering.
Off course I don't have the HD audio formats so not a real alternative... Maybe the buffering in Vidon is related with the audio streams., cause with Kodi I only have 2 channel stereo.

Vidon uses an old (16.1) build of Kodi. More recent Android Kodi might have better streaming performance.
I will push Egreat to update Vidon.

Seems that the new BETA (1.2.6.0.) fixed my buffer issues with VIDON, great! And as a bonus I can add samba shares again through the browser option (main player, not VIDON). Cancel my RMA ., it's a keeper now ;).
