As far as I know, DV is much harder nut to crack, as it requires to be licenced (and permitted) from SONY Dolby, opposite to regular HDR which has a "free for all" licence...

IMO: Unlikely to happen anytime soon (or at all), tho' would be superb. But still, there are much more important things to be refined and fixed first with the upcoming updates...

Edit.. Blah, I don't know why I wrote SONY in the first place...

This has been discussed in depth recently on the custom and official firmware threads.

Q5/Q10 Pro hardware is Dolby Vision capable but Dolby have not issued licences to any media players, only BD disc players. It's up to Dolby if/when they allow media players to support Dolby Vision.

3D is out . why for you , all LG, SONY, PANASONIc ,SAMSUNG get out 3D from their 2017 collections. because 3D is not the future. it'is a failure.
it' well only for cartoon and animation. the future is to watch in 4k dolby vision

Opinion based on lots of experience, huh?! Probably you never have watched a properly made 3D nature documentary to at least have some clue how it can be entertaining... Don't judge by the case of poorly made "blockbuster super-hero" 3D experience, they're not even getting anywhere close to the true potentials of this technology.  And even so, don't think that if something just doesn't interests you, it won't interest many other people... I have a 3D TV, and I've bought it for a reason, and willing (and will) to enjoy more and more fair 3D content in times to come, thank you...

No offence, but i'm fed up enough with these trendy demagoguery detractions against 3D...

Ask on Dolby Laboratories when they will start to give up Dolby Vision license for media player device.

Thats what I did and no response from them for a week. But that was to be expected. And personally I think Himedia or others will be the first ones to know about the license not us. So maybe they should inform us then :)

Firmware Update Activates Dolby Vision for Oppo UDP-203 & UDP-205 UHD Blu-ray Players on June 6, 2017 they get disc player license for Dolby Vision not as media player. Now Apple TV join to Dolby Vision license device, let's see on 3-4 month who is a next one...

The Dune 4k HDR is coming now. That means no chance for the Q10 anymore. Dune has always produced the best ones. The only way to redeem yourselves is to implement DV to the Q10 now.

I'm trying to get the Q10 to implement Dolby Vision or in other words to get Dolby to give out the damn licenses already. Only improves the Q10 nothing else. the definition of trolling should be something else

When they were using the Sigma soc, but not with the Realtek, that's for sure.

So if someone tries to contact Dolby now concerning the Dolby Vision support they just decline the licensing by saying it is illegal on mediaplayers and thats it? Or what is the status atm.....a bit of money should clear things up :D

Cause if thats their excuse for not licensing mediaplayers then it will NEVER happen or am I wrong here? Then we could end this charade. No need to wait then anymore. Absolutely pointless.

There is a rumour that dual-layer m2ts Dolby Vision support will soon arrive on 2017 LG Oled displays. If thats the case then everyone with a 2017+ tv can watch the stuff anyway. No need for Dolby to hold back. On the other hand for full audio support we need a mediaplayer with DV :(
