Title: Kodi necessary ?
Post by: eugeniovideo on October 18, 2017, 04:44:33 AM
I am using q10 and firmware 2.05.
The only use of the player is to watch movies stored in hdd. Iso bd , mkv, etc.
Everything works ok
I use only himediaplayer for playback.
Never tried to test kodi. Is there any reason to use it in my case ? ( Only hdd movies playback )
Thanks any answer.

Kodi has a lot more options and flexibility, it can use wrapper player, which is just like HiMedia player. Kodi can also arrange the video files a lot better, it can offer information about the file you are playing, it can show a trailer and so on. It is a lot better than the HiMedia player by itself.

Kodi has better media management (posters / thumbnails / sorting).

It can also do a lot more if you install the many add-ons.

It's prettier.

But if you just want to navigate to a movie using a directory based interface then HiMedia Media Center is simple and easy.

Kodi gives you a FAR better experience (when it works!)
