BD-ISO full menus did not make it into 2.0.5.
However, a BETA version to add support to Himediaplayer can be found here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2291.0

Hi Futeko
Before firmware 2.0.4 is released in the cahnge log it is mentioned that the Himediaplayer will support some ASS special effects subtitles, in fact this is not available on firmware 2.0.4
http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=711.msg17337#msg17337
In firmware 2.0.4 Himediaplayer still can not recognize subtitle with italic format like SRT with <i>subtitle</ i> format unless we change subtitle format on subtitle menu and all subtitle changed to italic format.
Does this ASS special effect subtitle include in firmware 2.0.5 or not?
Thanks

I don't get these peeps @ HiMedia. I have the Q10 Pro and none of the updates are ever delivered OTA. Plus, why would they pack this update with Kodi 17.0 when 17.4 is and has been available. I guess they really think about the customer....
BTW I have a Zidoo X9S which I feel is a much better box and all the updates are OTA..
-
Can't actually remember how many months ago someone from Himedia decided it's "smart" to put an explicit line in playercorefactory.xml to play with Kodi anything mounted over NFS.
Same stupid setting is here, today! Is this too complicated for Himedia? Is there another reason?
-
OK, no problems so far with 2.0.5 and BD-ISO Menu patch.
I've reinstalled PowerMenu.
Do I still need to re-install autoFMTswitch_1.1.3?
Are any other patches required for 2.0.5?
-
Is it safe to update from off. 2.04 via USB without Reset....simply over FW Update Option ?
-
Updated the FW to 2.0.5, first impressions:
1. Didnt like the media player layout, doesn't allow the convenient feature of dragging the status bar when a movie is played to desired time point.
2. On closing the subtitle, the himedia player crashes and force restarts, almost everytime.
3. You have to close the subtitle for each and every file separately.
-
Is it safe to update from off. 2.04 via USB without Reset....simply over FW Update Option ?
Yes, the restore button method is recommended because it's a "clean" install.
-
Updated the FW to 2.0.5, first impressions:
2. On closing the subtitle, the himedia player crashes and force restarts, almost everytime.
Um, that sounds very lame... Does it happen with embedded or external subtitles?!
Can anyone else confirm or deny this?!
Thanks!
-
The speed of the Internet slowed down.
2.0.4 :
speednet
480 m measured
2.0.5
speednet
300m measured
I've measured it several times and I'll ask you to check it out.

Indeed, internet connections are noticeably slower!

The speed of the Internet slowed down.
No problems here. Using the Ookla Speednet app I get 60 Mbps download and 15 Mbps upload, the same as last week, last month and last year!

bs player won't work well
but oke can be something for bs player app itself
wifi where a crime to get on untill this version now working fine

Could anybody tell about is the blinking bug existed when the imprex 2.0 is switched on?
Thank you!

Just tested with embedded and external subtitles, can't confirm it, It didn't crashed when enable and disable subtitles. What I can confirm is the same bug that happens at least since 2.03: himedia player randomly stops with a black screen, if I press return twice it exits and doesn't save the played time. It's NOT a hard drive problem

Have downloaded Vs 2.0.5 2017-09-13 and in spite of following all instructions to the letter, "settings" is still showing vs 2.0.4 from July this year. I have done an update several times in the past, including on my B900 box, so I am sure that I have done it correctly. I downloaded vs 2.0.5 a second time and tried again. Same result: still shows vs 2.0.4. Help please.
I might add that I am still using the 900B most of the time as it plays back all subtitles, whereas the Q10 does not. I only bought the Q10 for the 4K playback.
I had difficulty in registering to this forum as it kept telling me that I had not answered the verification questions correctly. Where it asks for the number of letters in "Elephant", it says "answer as a word in english - 5 letters", so I typed in "8 letters", as per the example. Took me ages to try typing
in "eight letters". Not very helpful advice

You have updated your Q10 several times before?

'8' is not a word. The questions asks for the answer as a single word. In the example you give the answer would be 'eight'.
I have personally updated several Q10 Pro to 2.0.5, the download and instructions work. The most common mistake is to rename the download to 'update.zip' rather than extracting 'update.zip' from the archive. The instructions provide more detail about this.

I just found a Firmware 205 "bug"
Firmware 204 - Dvd folder playback via LAN works fine with default player
Firmware 205 - When I try playing back same dvd folder via LAN all that happens is folder opens up to show AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders
If I revert to Firmware 204 "Dvd folder playback via LAN works fine with default player"
Note: Dvd .iso's play fine with Firmware 205 via LAN but most of my dvds on hard drives are in "folder format instead of .iso format"
-
Another strange decision in 2.0.5. While playing a series in Wrapper, default in Play Settings is Full Cycle. If I recall it was the same in 2.0.4. Only that now when choosing Return on the remote two times, instead of existing from player, it starts the next episode. On and on until I click return 2 times on the last episode. When it finally exists.
Single Cycle setting exists from play when I want to.
I can't really understand if this behaviour is expected or not. Just that I don't like it.
-
One loses track of these updates, but the fact I am running a version from July 2017 show that I have updated at least once since purchase in 2016. I had successfully updated the 900B also in the past. I note the advice not to rename the file to "update.zip" and had not done that . I extracted the files which automatically produced a file called "update.zip". I also tried again with the original download containing that very long name ending in ."zip" Neither have worked.
I'll try again.
-
Whilst not the recommended method, simply going to Settings and then Update from a USB flash drive (with the update.zip file only on it) works fine to upgrade from firmware 2.0.4 :)
I had backed up Kodi 17.4 (just in case) but nothing changed. Also installed the BD Full Menu app (and ran it).
I only had to reinstall the "0" Stop key patch. Samba and all network functions with NAS playback have worked fine.

Adjust the full screen and not the screen
-
I just installed the new firmware and I notice a subtle difference in the loading time of the folders. I went from 15 - 20 seconds to 4 - 7 seconds. Still not perfect but at least you added a loading note added to the top right corner of media center when it is loading the list. That's an improvement regarding the visibility of the system status.
I hope to see better improvements regarding the loading and organization of the folder structure. Other mediaplayers such as the Popcorn Hour VTEN don't have any issues. Even with the HiMedia PRO10 player it has no problems beneath firmware 2.0.3.
Test case: create a folder with 1.500 folders in it and the response time should be < 1 second. What I would also like to see is that the overview of the folders will be enhanced. Currently it displays 9 folders within the mediaplayer, but it would be better to have 15 folders or 20 folders as a overview.

Lame. Just enough reason why not to update -again- from 1.0.9. :P I'm using embedded (.sup) subs all the time (for a good reason: character set of the stock HiPlayer subtitles are much lamer than mine. ;D)...
Thanks for sharing!

I have now 2.0.3 and Kodi 17.4 and is working fine for me, do I need to update to 2.0.5?
If so, do I need to install 2.0.4 first?
And there will be no more OTA updates?

If you want full Blu-ray menu access (the main advantage found), then it is worthwhile installing 2.0.4 then 2.0.5 and the Beta app.
You should be able to complete both firmware upgrades via a flash drive without resorting to the pin method (that deletes everything). My Kodi kept unchanged. The player has been very stable with this release (HDD and NAS playback).

was happy to install but not happy they didn't fix the NFS bug!
I have 3 nfs sources (2 WD network drives and one mac). Kodi accesses all sources fine, but the media player of the machine gets stuck with one of my network drives (I believe it's a matter of how many elements are using NFS when more than 2 - the third one doesn't work). this has been working a few versions of FW ago, but the last three versions has stopped working!
does anybody have a clue?

First, this is a wonderful forum and as a lurker, I've learned so much here. :)
My Q10 pro was previously running firmware version 1.06 and Kodi 17.4. An HDMI 1.4 cable connects it to a Denon AVR-4810 receiver powering a 5.1 system. Another similar cable connects the Denon to my Sony 50W800C TV. Aside from known bugs, I've been generally happy with my Q10 Pro. I have it playing Bluray rips from Windows SMB shares (no password) over the home gigabit LAN. No stutters, no buffering. My old Denon passes 1080p and decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master. And as an Android box, I don't use my Q10 Pro for anything else except to run Kodi.
Last week I replaced my TV with an LG OLED 65E7. My old old Denon doesn't not support 4K, so I set it aside and ordered a Marantz SR7012 receiver. It hasn't arrived yet, so a new 4K60Hz-rated HDMI 2.0 cable connects the OLED TV directly to the Q10 Pro. After setting the resolution of the Q10 Pro to 2160p, 4K rips played just fine.
My problems began today when I decided to upgrade the firmware to version 2.05.
Of course, I read and followed all the steps, going to version 1.10 first, then 2.04, then 2.05. I didn't bother to test Kodi playback between upgrades, nor did I bother to back up my Kodi library or anything else since I had just rearranged the movies folder on my computer following the addition of new Western Digital MyBook external drives.
In short, the wrapper wouldn't work when playing videos on the Kodi app that came with firmware 2.05. I properly set up my Samba shares and waited for the library to finish populating. But select a video and it would just ask me to hit a button on the remote once video playback ends. No actual playback happens, no matter what I tried.
So I looked up and followed the procedure to downgrade to Android 5 and now wrapper works. The firmware comes with Kodi Jarvis, so I upgraded to 17.4 from the Play Store. Wrapper still worked. Everything plays, including 4K videos after setting the resolution of the Q10 Pro to 2160p. I didn't have to run the wrapper app at all, nor mess with its settings. It just worked. This gave me some confidence, so I decided to follow the prescribed procedure and upgrade to firmware version 2.05. Sadly, wrapper wouldn't work. :(
Now my Q10 Pro is using the firmware that allows a downgrade from 2.05 to Android 5. For me, this firmware is reliable. All I did was properly set up my Samba shares in Kodi and wrapper just works. No messing with any wrapper settings, at all. And for the incoming Marantz receiver, wrapper has to work as Kodi alone still won't pass 7.1 channels over HDMI.
So my question is, what did I miss?
How can I get wrapper to work with version 2.05?
Thanks, guys. Appreciate your help. :)

I'd suggest re-installing 2.0.5 (using the pin method) as it comes with the newer version of wrapper and should install itself correctly.
Re-check all your settings as the firmware will change everything to defaults. You will also need to "disable Joystick Control" in Kodi 17.4 to make sure the remote works correctly. Make sure Media Center playback works fine for you first, then test with Kodi + wrapper.
All the best.

You could try this first from an earlier post by Futeko...
* How to reinstall wrapper? Shutdown Kodi. Find wrapper app at My Apps - Wrapper. Select 'use Kodi player'. Exit wrapper app. Run wrapper app again. Select 'use wrapper player'. Exit wrapper app. Restart Kodi.
I think as you upgraded Kodi that this might solve the problem.

Same Problem here :(
The Builtin Mediaplayer works well but Kodi does not, HD Sound is not working in Kodi, which means the wrapper is not working :\
Tried nearly everything.. Enabled the wrapper, disabled the wrapper, reboot, enable, disable.. reboot usw usw ;) Still not working :(
On Android 5 everything worked perfectly well.
-
can anyone confirm if the new firmware is taking care of Subtitle Download in Kodi ? this was a miss in the previous firmware

For the wrapper problems, what if anything is in your playercorefactory.xml file (this file controls the wrapper)?
- Enable Samba sharing on Q5/Q10 Pro (Settings - More - SAMBA Service - Enable)
- Navigate to Q5/Q10 Pro on a PC and then to /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/
- View playercorefactory.xml using PC file editor
There's more about playercorefactory here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2145.0
As a more general answer, reinstalling firmware 2.0.5 using restore button method should fix all wrapper problems. It's not many people having problems so a normal 2.0.5 install works with wrapper pre-installed for 99% of users.

Finally Managed to install the Sept 2017 update. The problem was that I had not formatted my USB Thumb Drive to Fat 32 ! It was an ExFat format. What threw me was that when I attempted the update I had been getting the Android Coloured Circle as described and a progress bar, so I assumed that the update was taking place.
I'm surprised that nobody here had asked if I was using Fat 32 . I'm posting this in case any body else here has made the same mistake.

Perhaps because the very first line of the instructions tells you to use FAT32?

Have to agree. If your doing a firmware update, surely common sense and customer satisfaction of your product dictates that all the factory apps installed ( regardless of whether individuals want them ) should be updated to the latest version available at time of release as far as possible.
Is this not something that could be bought to Himedia's firmware contollers and acted upon in the future?

DVD - ISO still have issue did not start at title 1, it random start at other title, use kodi to test work just fine
if somebody have report it just ignore.

Re: Samba oddities on 2.0.5 Firmware
I enabled the Samba service today, to share the internal drive and SDCard. Once the box shows up on the network, it shows "share" as the only share. I used Windows 10 to map it to drive H: to explore it. I was able to see that SDA2 is the hard drive. The SD Card is showing empty under Settings/Storage and this is the second time this box has completely erased the SDCard. I never remove it without un-mounting first.
Odd thing too, I cannot access any folder in Windows explorer but some work fine in the command prompt. I don't understand how or why this is possible? I've supported lots of Windows servers and some Unix servers for a decade or more, so I'm pretty familiar with networking. Bizarre behaviour!
If I map the drive down further in the path it works in explorer up to a point, but I can see the files in command prompt, windows explorer says "Location is not available".
In command prompt, folders sometimes take several tries to be able to access, here's a live example, it took three tries before the path was accessible, no other activity was going on on the box:
H:\sda2\DVDs>cd movies
The system cannot find the path specified.
H:\sda2\DVDs>cd movies
The system cannot find the path specified.
H:\sda2\DVDs>cd movies
H:\sda2\DVDs\movies>
Sometimes it takes five tries. I suspect this failure in Windows Explorer is because Windows doesn't retry, like I can with the command prompt.
If I try to delete a file, it confirms deletion, then says "Could not find the item" in explorer, in command prompt, the message is "The system cannot find the file specified." As I explore further, it seems that Windows *CAN* see the files in folders, after a few minutes or if the folder is visible in command prompt I cannot be certain without further testing.
I can't explain this oddity in behaviour, I've never seen a situation where command prompt can see folders & files, and explorer cannot. I run as Admin on Windows. It seems that files and folders are sometimes case sensitive, but not always. Unsure if this is desired for a Windows environment?
My laptop is on Wifi(5Ghz around 430Mbps) but the Q10 is wired GB ethernet directly to the router. Let me know if I can provide any more diagnostic information.

Q10 Pro - [Edit] Causing Errors on SD Card (referenced in my previous post)
I have a Sandisk 128Gb SD Card with my music copied to it in the Q10 Pro SDCard slot.
At least twice now, I've gone to access the card, and it shows zero files. An additional note: When I use a USB drive to install new firmware, I usually leave it in the slot until I need it again for new FW. Every time I've removed the drive and put it in my laptop, Windows tells me there's an error on the drive and I have to scan/fix it first. This is very similar behaviour as to what happens with the SD Card. I'm guessing this is the same problem.
I go to Settings/Storage and it shows:
SanDisk SD card
0 B used of 0 B
So, it seems to have lost it's formatting. I've never once removed it with the box running without un-mounting it first.
This has happened now at least twice, maybe three times. I guess I'll have to write protect it.
Let me know if there's any more diagnostic information you require.
EDIT: I just repaired the SD Card in Windows, was able to access it successfully, and write protected it and put it back in the Q10, it showed ok at first, then I went back to settings and shows 0B of 0B again, so I ejected it, back to Windows, found errors, but unable to fix because it's write protected.
Is the Q10 ignoring the write protection somehow?

@hjkaye: I assume it is formatted on Windows and that it is using ExFat. This is the problem, you may need to move everything from it locally, format it on the Q10 Pro, check the filesystem (it should not be FAT) and then copy back your stuff on your SD card if it is ExFat. Are you 100% sure the stuff you have on it is not corrupted somehow?

What format is the SD card? Try formatting it as NTFS.

It's ExFat (as it was out of the box I think)
Should the Q10 even be able to modify the file structure when the write protect switch is on?
I will try NTFS, but it seems there is an issue with external storage, as my (brand new) 8Gb Kingston USB stick I use to install firmware ALWAYS ends up with errors when I put it back in my laptop. Fortunately the errors are always recoverable.
I have other USB drives I use for other purposes, never had this problem in other devices.

@hjkaye: well, did you ever unplug it from within Android? Go to Settings - Storage, unplug it from there and then unplug it from Q5 Pro. It is just like Safely Remove in Windows.

I always unmount it, or remove when the box is off.

Formatting NTFS has fixed the SDCard. Still having issues with the USB key. Every time I remove it and put it into my laptop, it shows that it has errors. Since I only use it for firmware, it's not a huge issue, but I have to keep it FAT32.
Yes, I always unmount it first, or power off first before removing it. I'm on the latest firmware now.

Re: Samba oddities on 2.0.5 Firmware
Any comments on this problem?

This happens to me every time I use a USB memory stick on my Q10 and then try to use it on my desktop. I just have to reformat it every time!
How do you dismount a USB memory stick on a Q10?

You shouldn't have to format, if you don't want to. On Windows anyways, just scan and repair for errors. It takes about 45 seconds.
To dismount storage, it's under settings/storage click on the little black arrow on the right side.

Wow! Thank you for that. I wish someone had told me that before! I've been closing the box down to remove it.
Futeko: I think that should be placed in the FAQ section???

And it's not even sure, that the USB gets safely detached automatically during the shut down... Just sayin'...
