Title: Himedia Q10 Pro stopped booting
Post by: methorz on August 10, 2017, 04:08:56 PM
Hey there,

I have the same issue as described here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=890.0

The box was working for months without problems and suddenly overnight this happens.

I am unable to access it, nor apply a firmware or perform a factory reset. When I try to reset it (with or without usb for firmware update) nothing happens. Nothing is displayed either, it just turns itself off again.

I am up for any ideas...

Thanks!

Probably a different issue to the one linked to. That user had a box that booted only occasionally.

You are saying that your box doesn't boot at all?

What signs of life do you get from the box when applying power? LCD display? Power LED (what colour)?

The screen does not show anything in either case. No logo, nothing.

The  when powered on, goes into standby mode as usual. Red power led and the circle are on.

When pressing the power led all lights up, then after some seconds goes back into standby mode.  I can see the fan as well as the hard disk powering up.
The screen on the box itself stays empty. Usually it would say boot, but nothing now.

I tried factory reset, but does not work. Same behavior regardless of what I do.

Let me know I can provide any additional information

Try preparing a USB stick according to instructions in this post: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1622.msg14469#msg14469

First try it without disassembly, just with restore button pressed on back like a regular firmware install.

Try migration firmware update.zip first, and if that doesn't work try FW 2.0.1 update.zip.

If none of that that works you could try disassembly and shorting the pins on the motherboard as described in the above link.

Or, of course, you could contact your reseller for RMA.

Thanks for the reply!

I have tried preparing the stick as stated in the instructions posted on the link.
Sadly, at least the without disassembly version, did not work. I am not seeing the Himedia logo at startup nor anything else. The box just starts, while I have the restore button pressed, and then after around 3 seconds goes back into standby. Nothing is shown on the screen nor on the box little screen at all.

I have tried both firmware as suggested with the same result. The box ignores everything and goes back to standby. Like its looking at me and then saying... neah.. not that guy again... im outta here  ;D

I have read that shorting the pins would lead to warranty being invalidated, so I would rather not choose to do that. That being said, I guess the only way is to send it to my reseller for RMA.
