Title: Issue with Q10 Pro
Post by: stu07940 on August 10, 2017, 03:18:37 PM
Afternoon
I recently bought  a Q10 Pro as an upgrade to my Popcorn Hour due to wanting 4K.
I also bought at the same time a Samsung UE65MU6100.
I am streaming over GB LAN from another NAS some 4k content.  I have had a play around with the colours and got them best I can, but I have to have another dig around in the settings as I have to have a look at the following;

For 2160p you have to disable HDMI Auto Adaption!
Set it fixed to 2160p 50hz and ycbcr 4:2:2 8Bit /HDR Mode 10
Or to 2160P 24hz ycbcr 4:4:4 10bit

Using Planet Earth 2 as example; It seems at the start of every scene, there is stuttering for maybe 1 second then it plays fine (this is using built in player, not even opoen Kodi yet).  I also noticed on one scene where it zoomed into some mountains, there is constant weird movement/rippling on parts of the mountain that werent apparent throughout the rest of the video.  This happened all the time the mountain was being zoomed in to and only on the mountain, so could have been a faulty video extract perhaps.

Is it worth installing the custom firmware from the top sticky?  What would it give me over stock firmware?  Is it worth just using Kodi?

Many thanks in advance!

Set it to 2160p 60hz and ycbcr 4:2:2 8Bit /HDR. And set 24p mode ON in the Settings. And Hz will adjust automatic depending on the video source.

Hi
Setting it to 2160p 60hz helped, still getting slight judder  at times
Couldn't find the "24p Mode" in the settings and I couldn't change the ycbcr settting either, all the other options when selected showed not available.
Thanks...

24p mode is in Settings->Display. For 2016p 60Hz you're should be able to select either 422 8bit and 420 8/10bit (if your amplifier is HDMI 2.0 capable).  I guess it's best to set to 420/10bit for 4K HDR videos, tho' it should auto switch to 422/10bit for anything bellow 50fps (HDMI 2.0 standard limitation).

Is your video 4K as well?! If not, than set it to 1080p/60HZ/4:2:2 for bets PQ.

All of that shouldn't affect the video stutter anyway. Only turning the 24p mode OFF would cause microstutters. Do you have problem with other videos as well?!

Thanks for the quick response, have only really played with 2160p video at the moment.
Will do some more testing over the weekend, maybe try Plex, and also play the video files on my 4K Mac monitor to rule out the source.
Was wondering if the CFW would help in any way as I'm still on stock (latest).
Amp is a Denon AVRX2300W so supports all the latest protocols.
Thanks!

Correction for my previous post: There's only "simple" 422 option in settings, so it should auto adjust either to 8 or 10bit regarding to the video source and to your TV. (Someone could test and confirm this with a 4K HDR video, as I only have FHD/8bit TV).

HDR mode also depends on the source. For HDR set it to HDR10, for "any other" (mostly anything bellow 4K) set it to SDR for the best PQ. But I guess the "Auto" option should work as well.

And the 24p mode you find in Settings->Playback.
