YouTube for Android TV v2.0 review (http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/06/30/youtube-android-tv-v2-0-brings-major-redesign-finally-allows-autoplay-turned-off-apk-download/)
For display "nerd statistics" :
1. Start the video
2. Switch OFF the mouse. (That's why I could not get it working!)
3. Press the central OK button
4. Use the 'left arrow' key to select 'more options', press OK
5. The 'stats for nerds' icon is on the last on the right, press OK
About Search function and crash
Disable access to microphone, so it will not crash.

Or you can install Google Now from Play Store to fix it, HiMedia FW :
- 1.0.3-2.0.3 install Google Search, CFW 1.0.3-2.0.3 already installed.
- Don't install Google Search on HiMedia FW/CFW 2.0.4., Disable access to microphone

"Search function NOT WORK" ---> If you run any HiMedia FW from 1.0.3-2.0.3 install Google Search, CFW 1.0.3-2.0.3 already installed.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox
Don't install Google Search on HiMedia FW/CFW 2.0.4 will get more problems that benefit.
- workaround don't allow it to do voice search voice(Microphone permissions)
Enjoy 1440p/2160p streaming until Google will not block again.
-
I tested it right now. I like it better than the old version. Too bad I do not have a microphone connected to my Q10 Pro. I tested an 2.0 version, but that was only x86. Nice touch from Google. My TV is only 1080p, but I was able to play 4K videos with Youtube and see the stats to prove it.
-
Is it working on Q10 Pro? Because I tried installing it and the installer said it is not compatible with it.
I've installed 'YouTube for Android 2.00.17' on a Q10 running Official FW2.04 & Android 7.0 today and get no problems. The 'Search' function works perfectly. I've just been watching some of YouTube's amazing 4K videos!
-
It crashes if you allow it microphone permission and do a search.
As long as you don't allow it to do voice search it works.

I edited my post. I installed an older version yesterday when there was no arm version. This one works perfectly.

app works on my braviatv perfectly so far.
even voice search worked this instant.
but statistics always say 2560x1440p
So once again google is cheating?
-
I installed it and its awful.
Crashes every time i hit the home button, navigation is sluggish and the subscriptions consist of max 3 huge symbols at once
- so if you want to navigate to a specific subscribed channel, you have to hold right for ages.
does anyone have a link for the previous version? ::)
edit: nvm, found it.
-
Some of the icons are larger now, but I got tired of the old app. Since this is the app that all smart TVs will have, I want it on my TV box too. I think it looks better and it is better suited for larger screens (mine is a 42 inches TV). It is a shame I cannot choose quality anymore (I think I was able to do it with the old version). I expect improvements in the future.

That explains it. I don't talk to my tv :o!

... and see the stats to prove it.
Do you mean the stats like 'looun' has in his images? How do you do that?? I would like to check what resolution I'm getting.

It's an option in the Youtube app. The setting location is slightly different for the different Youtube apps, but basically: Settings - Stats for nerds - Enable.

That option does not appear to be in the new version of YouTube???

This one works perfectly.
Can you check if the "Stats for nerds" option is available in the new version?

It's also available in most recent standard Youtube from Play Store and the Youtube pre-installed in FW 2.0.4.

On fw 1.1.0 android 5.1 it does not search and crashes
Can you solve it like?

You gave it access to microphone. Disable it and it will not crash. Or you can install Google Now from Play Store to fix it.

On my Q10, if I run the new YouTube 2.00.17 app and click on 'Settings' in the menu I get a line of squares offering me:
"Sign Out:
"Link TV and Phone"
"Help"
"Feedback"
"Sounds" (Disabled)
"Autoplay" (Disabled)
"Improve YouTube" (Disabled)
"Restricted Mode" (Disabled)
"High Contrast Mode" (Disabled)
"Clear Watch History"
"Clear Cookies"
"App Version"*
"Credits"
"Privacy and Terms"
Where exactly is "stats for nerds"????
P.S. I have no problems with YouTube 12.27.53 on my Android phone and tablet. "Stats for nerds" works perfectly on both.
-
Press OK, down arrow, look for More option, move to right until last option Stats for nerds.

Can you check if the "Stats for nerds" option is available in the new version?
Yes, it has it. I used to to check for resolution. It is adaptable like other services, it moves down to a lower resolution if bandwidth decreases.

Yes, it has it. ...
So how do you switch it on in Settings?
-
While playing a video you press the ok button, to get the onscreen controls. You press the icon to the left, then you go to the Stats for Nerds (if I remember correctly).

This was nearly the same what pcristi means in his post here http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2144.msg18277#msg18277 (http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2144.msg18277#msg18277). ::)

Maybe, but as I pointed out in my reply, pressing the OK button on a i25 controller has no effect, no menu appears. Switch the mouse off, press the OK button again and the menu appears!
-
I assumed that you are not using your remote as a mouse. The Youtube TV app does not respond to touch by design.
-
working also 360 video ;D

Anybody tried version 2.01.04 ?
Yes, 2.01.04 (https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/youtube-for-android-tv-android-tv/youtube-for-android-tv-android-tv-2-01-04-release/youtube-for-android-tv-android-tv-2-01-04-2-android-apk-download/) arm version need to be install.

In the previous version I couldn't login to my YouTube account and couldn't jump forward /backwards in the video (at least with the stock remote). Have this issues been addressed in this latest version?
Thanks

Hi,
I'm having a problem with version 2.01.04: My Tv is 1080P and when I play videos marked as 4K (in the lower right corner) the video freezes randomly while audio continues to play. In stats for nerds I have the info in the resolution 3840x2160/3840x2160 when I probably should have 1920x1080/3840x2160 but I can't find anywhere an option to change resolution. Any Ideas?
Thanks
