Title: Android 5 going to android 7
Post by: edver on July 12, 2017, 11:33:31 AM
Hi
I'm new to this and I got my Q10 recently.
Reading at the forum i'm getting a bit confused,I would like to go from Android 5.1 to Android 7 but I don't understand the sequence that I should follow.
Where do I find the software version on  the Q10 ?
Do I first load the latest version of Android 5.1 or do I go direct to Android 7 release 2.0.3 and then to Android 7 release  2.04. ?
Is it safer to remove the hard drive before the upgrade ?
I understand there should be no other connection or another USB stick connected to the Q10 when upgrading ?
THX in advance
From a newby

You can find the firmware version in Settings - About.
You have to update first to Android 7, then firmware 2.0.0 and then firmware 2.0.3 and then firmware 2.0.4
Start here; http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1392.0 (http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1392.0)

You don't have to remove the internal harddrive. Only the USB stick with the update.zip must be in.

Instructions are in the Q10 Pro 2.0.4 thread.

http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2096.0

- If installing from an Android 5.1 firmware you must first install official 2.0.1 (http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1610.0), then official 2.0.3 (http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1865.0) (because 2.0.3 cannot be installed direct from Android 5.1), then 2.0.4.

Installing 2.0.0 first will work, but I'd recommend 2.0.1 for safety (there have been a small number of failed firmware updates using 2.0.0).

Despite the above, don't start with 2.0.0!

This is the correct order: 2.0.1->2.0.3->2.0.4 !

That's a quick response !
Will I loose some apps or settings during this upgrade ?

You will lose all apps and settings.

If updating one firmware version you could try updating through the box menu so you don't lose any data (this is not our recommended method, even for one firmware version, but it might work), but because you are changing OS versions and updating several versions you'll have to updating using the RESTORE/UPDATE button.

Backup is possible but tricky.

* Do full system backup? You need to be root and install Titanium Backup from Play Store. More info: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1616.msg13230#msg13230

Hi
This is a very new box with only the standard apps and only the personal settings,I only want it to be up to date and with the standard apps because I'm using it manly for my personal made films.
So if I do the update, is it difficult to get the few apps back ?
Unlike some topics, doing a good job !

It's very easy to get any app back.

The pre-installed apps on the new firmware are the same as on the previous, so they'll be there.

Any other apps just sign into Play Store and search for them.

Hi
I updated the system to Android 7 and it went smooth, not the way with the upgrade "button" on the back ( that did nothing ! ) ;but by the menu update,I disconnected everything and started the update , 15 to 20 minutes "work"and everything worked  .
Everything works at the moment, only I cant find a way to set another system language ,I go in to the menu and I can add another language but I cant select the one I prefer !
There are now two languages but it stays set to English ,is there a way to get the other language as a default ?
Greetings
