Evening folks,
Bought the A10 and Rii MX3 air mouse as a 'bundle' but having problems.
A10 powers up in 'standby' mode.
1). Air mouse will not power up the A10 from standby ever.
2). Have to press a key twice on the air mouse if 20-30 seconds of inactivity.
First press gets the attention of the A10, second press does the command it should.
Further single key presses work fine until there is a pause of inactivity, then two key presses needed.
A10 seems to be timing out after a period of inactivity and needs key press wake it up.
3). Instruction leaflet (in confusing pigeon English) for air mouse indicates it can learn a code from another remote control.
Doesn't work with the air mouse supplied.
If the original remote control is needed to get the A10 out of standby every time, then what purpose does the air mouse (that Futeko sells with the A10) serve. If the original R/C fails, the the A10 is unusable.
Any thoughts much appreciated.

IR = Infra Red (must be pointed to the receiver, low power consumption)
RF = Radio Frequency (no need to aim, may work through doors and even walls, high power consumption)
1). The air-mouse is an RF remote and to process RF signals the box needs to be up and running first. As a consequence you can power it off via RF but only an IR signal can wake it up again from standby. You can program the top power button with an IR signal to power it back on (just copy the power button from the standard IR remote to it). Being an universal remote this is not done at the factory for you.
2) To save the remotes battery the RF signal is paused when the remote is inactive. The first press just wakes it up again, the second press is a real button action. This is by design of the remote and not an Egreat/A10 fault. As an alternative you can turn it over to stop RF and again to turn it on again (works with mine, but I am not sure with all?).
3) Yes you can program the remote IR, but this is valid for the power button on top plus the 4 colored buttons only (an essential piece of information but indicated only correctly via the picture). Use the TV button to toggle RF and IR output modes for the 5 programmable buttons. The pigeon English manual gives correct instructions how to IR program/clone these 5 buttons from any IR remote source.
Bottom line the Riitek MX3 (sold as multiple brands and even brand-less) in fact is a very nice and versatile universal RF /IR remote once its secrets have been revealed. No essential need for the original remote next to it once IR programmed for power on/off. ;)
Use an all keys programmable alternative brand-less version myself. Use it with all my Android based media players by just moving the dongle. The Riitek i25 is a serious alternative having a different front panel layout and a via USB chargeable battery cell. Also back-lit equivalents for both do exist (disliked the buttons on those myself in practice). :)

Hello!
Can you give a link to that "alternate" version you're using that has all the buttons programmable?

1. The Rii MX3 needs programming to replicate the A10 IR remote power button. The instructions for programming the buttons are in the MX3 manual or see answer #3.
2. This is a power saving feature of the Rii MX3. It's a minor inconvenience which I think is worth it for the MX3's excellent battery life.
3. Instructions:
1. Press and hold TV button on MX3. LED on MX3 will flash slowly.
2. Point original IR remote at IR sensor on MX3 and press power button on original remote. LED on MX3 will stay lit.
3. Press the key of MX3 that you want to program the command to (power button in this case). LED on MX3 will flash slowly.
4. Press TV button on MX3 to exit programming mode.
4. The MX3 provides mouse cursor control which is essential for some third party Android apps. It also gives you a keyboard for easy typing. The IR power on/off can be replicated as described above.
