* Stop Kodi 17 new remote message and disabled back / menu buttons? In Kodi, go Add-ons / My add-ons / Peripheral libraries / Joystick Support / Disable
-
tried this fix for no menu button function... doesn't work...just another bug :(
-
I have also Kodi 17.3 with firmware 2.0.3 and menu and return button are working on the remote.
-
mine is not working either, though another button - among the numbers buttons, with X marked on it, works as back button.

After doing this.. You have to exit kodi (using exit command in kodi) Thrn reload kodi..

This remote issue was found as a new part of Kodi 17.1 (it simply re-maps some keys and treats it incorrectly as a joystick). It is a Kodi "feature" and not hardware related (as SPMC still works the same) and there were threads about fixing it here from April 2017:
Simple fix has been posted in the related thread by @pcristi:

Disable Joystick Support in Kodi 17.1
Add-ons / My add-ons / Peripheral libraries / Joystick Support / Disable
Remember to exit and reboot Kodi.
Remote is still working for me as it was ;D

You actually disabled joystick support (but I know what you mean as the new Kodi 17 menus are hard to follow and that one is well hidden and difficult to tell what is the setting).
Happy it is back working for you. It had me stumped for a while when Kodi 17.1 was first updated.
