Title: connect a Synology DiskStation DS416 nas

good morning

I wanted to ask if i can connect a Synology DiskStation DS416 nas 4 bay to HIMEDIA Q5 PRO or if there are problems reading/writing

There's no need actually for UPNP. Himedia is fully able to read the containers with video or audio over NFS or SMB and do the decoding by itself. It needs no features offered by UPNP so why one would use that?

To answer to OP - I can confirm what all other people are saying - no problems whatsoever! Unless you're planning to use a second SMB-based storage and hit the limit with user/pass; Himedia remembers only one combination and it's weird to try to convince it to remember 2 combinations. In that case better use NFS.

perhaps because it's faster (to find the server) and you don't need any login&password?
