Title: HIMEDIA Q5 / Q10 doesnt read the Ultra HD 4k Full 1.1 with menu
Post by: oxanna on June 11, 2017, 10:43:38 PM
the second and third  movie UHD 4K  full 1.1. with menu
"Patriots.Day.2016.2160p.BluRay.HEVC.DTS-X.7.1-TERMiNAL"  and    " Inferno.2016.COMPLETE.UHD.BLURAY-TERMiNAL "
they are  not read by all  Himedia Q10/ Q5 pro , but  they are played by Egreat A5/A10 players, that I have tested.
they are the  film where the ACCS2 protection was bypassed and this is the exact copy of bluray UHD 4K disc with menu', not mkv 4k upscaling or mkv 4k capture.Do you think that Himedia team is satisfied with this , when mostly the Egreat team have solved the problem ????? >:(

the second real movie in UHD 4K with menu , not mkv 4k upscaling or mkv 4k capture , but full bdmv disc  "Patriots.Day.2016.2160p.BluRay.HEVC.DTS-X.7.1-TERMiNAL" .  is not read from Himedua Q10/ Q5 pro . but only  from Egreat player.
This is the second film where the ACCS2 protection was bypassed. this is the exact copy of bluray UHD 4K disc with menu'.

By not read you mean does not have a menu support or didn't play at all?

You can Play it bei Using the Q10 Player, not Kodi, and navigate manually to the Stream Folder and Select the correct file.
Not Great, but it works. Off Course no Menue at all

So it works just like any other bluray rip before (without menu).

HiMedia have said that they plan to support BD full menus since before Christmas.

They still say it. We still wait.

To OXANNA (or any one else..).

I have the same problem.  Does not read UHD 4k full 1 to 1.  Even from Kodi (manually  selecting the correct file - largest file).
Nothing.  Should I install MX Player?  What to do to open this file?

Q10 Player - nothing
KODI manually - nothing

Pls help

Same here. Can't play Ultra HD content. Already tried 3 discs and always got pop-up about "video problem...".

the problem is the competitor EGREAT  read the 3 film 4k full bluray 1.1  very well with menu. I think Himedia team They have remained far behind in the software. Fortunately I have egreat a5 and I read these movies very well, but I'm sorry for himedia.

But like HiMedia even Egreat still has the unusual HDR aspect ratio issue, right?

Chill buddy. It seemed like you owned an Egreat player, so I wanted to know if this also has the HDR bug.  I was thinking of jumping from HiMedia to Egreat, as it plays UHD/ BD-ISO Full Menu. Even the new HiMedia firmware 2.0.4 does not feature this. But it at least solves the HDR issue.

Egreat A5/A10 have always been more expensive than HiMedia, and one of the things that justifies that price difference is UHD/BD/DVD full menus.

HiMedia have repeatedly said that BD menus will come, but it's not happened yet and I would describe it as possible, nothing more. It might never happen.

With the new firmware, HiMedia have a more recent HiSilicon SDK and have fixed many bugs (including the HDR not-16:9 aspect ratio bug). Egreat are working on an Android 7 firmware based on same HiSilicon SDK, but it won't be released until August, possibly later.

There are pros and cons of both manufacturers..

Hello

As mentioned above new firmware update (2.0.4) fixed HDR 3840x1600 aspect ratio bug. But how about movies 4k full bluray 1.1 like Patriots, Inferno,....?
Earlier was a problem (Media Center Player - even when manually selecting large folder m2ts) called - "Video Problem". No pictures, no sound.

I had no problem playing smurf/patriot/lala/infern/ with 2.0.3 OR 2.0.4. No menues though (of course) but playing the m2ts with hdr, no problem at all.

What settings are you using to get native 4k output on the HiMedia? I have the main settings (home screen) set to 1080p 60hz as I don't want the HiMedia upscaling, but does this mean it is downscaling 4k content? I have an off-board video processor, so I don't want the HiMedia dong anything other than playing the content back natively

sure then, its downscaling ...

switching resolutions will come (?) with android O ...

so if you watch 4k, use 4k Resolution, if not use 1080p
