I bought me the Egreat A5 to use it instead of my Minix 8Hplus and although I am pleased with it there is one thing I can not solve.
I have several Seagate personal clouds in my network and the A5 sees all of them and plays all files on it without any troubles. But I also have several external harddiscs ,from both Seagate as from WD, and none is recognized by the A5. When I connect them to my Minix they are all there.
; 1TB or even 4TB...no problems.
I hope this can be solved and that it is me who is doing something wrong........
Any idea....please help .
Thanks

What format are the external HDDs?
They need to be EXFAT, FAT, NTFS, EXT.

Thanks for answering
All are ntfs.
I just bought me a 4tb harddisc with external power supply and that one is recognized. by Egreats own player. TheXBMC/ Kodi-clone Egreat uses does not recognize it. I put Krypton on yesterday but same result...does not show up.
So now i have :
- Own Egreat-player.....network/nas....works
External harddiscs without external power supply: not work
External harddiscs with external power supply: work.
-XBMC/Kodi clone: network/nas........work
External harddiscs with or without external power supply.......not work
I honestly say I expected more when I decided to buy this player. Egreats picture, when using their own player, is beautiful and much better then my MINIX. wHEN i USE THE xbmc/kODI CLONE I think my Minix on Kodi has the better picture. Also my old Minix has no problem at all ............whatever i connect ....no
problems at all. So at the moment I still am using my Minix and that was not why I bought the Egreat.
The Egreat has potential.......but i.m.o. it was rushed on the market without some main things fully tested.
But ..still hoping

Just see on your website the Zidoo X10 .....that has full Bluray-menu too. I was thinking....should I sell the Egreat A5 and buy the Zidoo X10 ?
I really not want to keep using two separate boxes.
So does the Zidoo have the same connection problems ? Is the Zidoo the better player ?

Ah, so it's a power problem. How many HDDs are you attaching?
The solution is to use a powered hub. Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/DIGIFLEX-Speed-Power-Adapter-Cable/dp/B003DVC7N6/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1496913138&sr=1-6&keywords=powered+usb+hub
For your Kodi problem, try accessing the drive at it's location in the android file system.
External drives are located at /mnt/sda/sda1 (Q10 Pro internal HDD only) and /mnt/sdb/sdb1 then /mnt/sdb/sdb2 etc (all USB drives).
So in Kodi, go root filesystem then /mnt/sda
Zidoo X10 has a bigger 3A PSU so would be better able to power multiple external HDDs.

Connected a USB3 docking station with up to 10x HDD to Zidoo X9S and Egreat A10 players and both work flawless also with that many HDD's on a single USB3 port. For Internal HDD be sure to format them (e)SATA attached to a Windows PC with GPT + NTFS (or EXT4) USB2 port is 0,5 A 5V and USB3 port is 0,9A 5V.
HDD and USB connectivity makes not a real difference for these players. Both are quality products with Egreat more gradually adding features and more stable on FW. Zidoo has more features including HDMI-in recording but new FW less stable lately. A report for A10 was made by me (on that site) and X10 is coming soon.
