Title: usb hd attached to himedia Q5 pro
Post by: ronald on May 28, 2017, 03:44:13 PM
Hi

I have a lot of problems with my himedia Q5pro reading my usb attached HD (formatted as ex fat since some HD file's are about 10 gb)
When i put a file extra on the hd himedia is sometimes not reading the disk any more. the himedia is loaded with firmware pro custum Softpedia forum thread (including firmware info): http://www.mediafire.com/file/y6f1dfyzdnf3i3y/update_Q5Pro_%28update%26themed%26Kodi17.2RC1shitty%29_HMD-2.0.3_2017-04-13.093025.zip

Anybody who can tell what's going wrong since this is gonna be very frustrating because the only solution is to format the hd again and again.

Oh ja I have a macbook.

have a nice day

I would recommend a thorough check of the hard drive itself with a testing tool (unfortunately I have no idea what works on a Mac).
Crystal DiskInfo X64 works well on a PC.  Your issue appears to be more from your hard drive than the player.

I put plenty of > 10Gb files up to 45Gb in size on external (and internal) HDD but they are NTFS formatted.
A few of the hard drive companies have software that will format, write and read in NTFS on a Mac if you look.

Consider using EXT4 for the HDD format. That also should work just fine and as far as I know supported by MAC and Linux based PC"s. Far better than FAT32.

hi nice monkey

using Paragon NTFS for Mac 15 formatting the hd into windows NT seems to work for me until now.
