Running latest fw android 5 on q10 pro. Netflix no longer available it seems.
-
I think you would have a more reliable indication of the compatibility of the app when you open the play store on the device itself.
My Neo z64 and my Q10 Pro both are reported as not compatible... yet, somehow I have the app installed on both. I will check to see what the current status is and if it still receives updates (good indication of Netflix' support for the device)
I am running firmware 1.1.0 by the way. Which one are you running?

OK, now this is weird and worrying. Netflix is gone from the store. It can not be updated nor re-installed. There goes a 200 euro machine... because Netflix is a big part of our TV experience.

I am running on 1.11 fw. I posted the picture from my laptop because i could not find it at all in the playstore on my himedia....
Not a super big problem. Just google netflix.apk and install latest app. Be carefull from where you install it...

That is very strange. I am on Nougat firmware, 2.0.1 custom and I updated Netflix even recently. Get the apk from here, it is a good known source that you can trust http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/netflix-inc/netflix/

Just had a chat with netflix support and they seem to have pushed an update that has stricter compatibility requirements. It appears to be a licensing issue. The helpdesk agent told me to take a look here for older versions of Netflix: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/57688

I having the same problem after reverting from Android 7.1 (2.0.3) to 5.1.1
Started Netflix... Got a message from the Playstore that Netflix is not compatible with my device.
I uninstalled the "builtin Netflix" and Netflix is no longer available on the store.
So I'm screwed too.

You can download an older version directly from. netflix: https://netflixhelp.s3.amazonaws.com/netflix-4.16-200147-release.apk This link can be found in the article I like med to ....

Hi,
For the moment, I think is solved... For me.
I have Installer Custom firmware...
-
I think I just found out why some Q10 Pro boxes could not install Netflix anymore http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/05/13/netflix-confirms-blocking-rootedunlocked-devices-app-still-working-now/. It seems that Netflix is doing a check and it does not install the app on a rooted device. It still allows to upgrade it if you already had it installed (as I am doing on mine). The solution is to not uninstall the existing Netflix, just upgrade over it.
-
Well, I installed it from the play store from when it was still possible but there are no updates available. The whole app has disappeared from the installed apps list and the only reason I know it is there is because there is a tile in my launcher and it appears in settings > apps. So I doubt we will be getting updates. We're missing crucial Widevine level 1 security which needs hardware adjustments. The box has level 3, which is a software licensing thing, but level 1 is not something that can be fixed with a new firmware.
-
Last week I updated Netflix on my Q10 Pro as soon as there was an update on my other Androids. Widevine L3 was not an issue on other Androids, I have LineageOS on my G Pad 8.3, rooted as my Q10 Pro and I was able to update it just like on my G4. Netflix only cares about root. We will probably need to hide it pretty soon on rooted devices. Let's see how it goes. The only issue should be root which can be disabled.
Edit: I have to take back what I said. Neither my G Pad nor my Q10 Pro are able to see or install from the Play Store the Netflix app. That was a bad choice from Netflix. The strange thing is that I can still download shows. I will resort to sideloading a perfectly compatible app.

Netflix is blocked only on play store on unlocked and rooted devices, app itself is still working (for now) and you can download newest version on APK Mirror:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/netflix-inc/netflix/
-
That is correct, I manually updated on my Q10 Pro and my G Pad 8.3. Netflix 5.x is working as it should for now.
-
How often should I update Netflix?
Since I went on the foreign APK route, it doesn't update anymore.
-
I do not really know. I am expecting that a certain version of the apk to not run anymore on uncertified devices or some features to either disappear or to not be available. I found a way to hide root on my tablet with Magisk, on our Q10/Q5 Pro our possibilities are limited. I am still able to download shows and movies offline just like before with this new version.
I would say to keep offline the latest copy of the apk that runs without issues whenever you want to upgrade it manually. Update it when you have an issue that has been fixed with a newer version or when you want to check out a new feature that has been added to Netflix app on Android. At some point the app itself will not run and it will tell you to upgrade it if you have a very old version (like 3.x.x). I would upgrade then, of course.

Hi,
I've just update my Q10 Pro to 2.0.6 and install Netflix 5.9.0 build 24858 from apk mirror.
The app is now working, but the streaming is not in HD, only in SD. Why?

Netflix on Android is always 480p except on specific devices licensed by Netflix.
