Title: Windows cannot access sdcard with Samba
Post by: EdenResident on April 24, 2017, 07:11:13 PM
Hello,

I've set up Samba on my Q10 pro. I can access the internal hard drive (sdb) and attached USB drive (sda) just fine. However when I try to access sdcard, I get the following message

Windows cannot access \\android_478ed\share\sdcard
You do not have permission to access \\android_478ed\share\sdcard. Contact your network administrator to request access.

Please note that I can still access other folders just fine. It's just this one (sdcard) that's giving me trouble. I log in as administrator and password it enabled.

Do you have any idea why this happens? Thanks in advance.

Probably looking in the wrong spot!
You should still be able to log in from Windows to Android_xxxx/share/sdcard  as I do to place files into the /download directory and also to /data to copy
Kodi files for backups.

Under Android 7 the internal and attached USB drives come up under Android_xxxx/share/media_rw/sdxx
A physical SD Card, however, is found under a separate folder; Android_xxx/share/media_rw/mmcblk1p1 (or whatever your card shows).  This SD Card name has not changed since the original Android 5.1 firmware (/media_rw folder name is new with Android 7).

[Firmware 2.0.3 Android 7, Windows 10]

Hi Phil,
I'm using Android 5 and my Q10 doesn't have the media_rw folder like you said. My shared directory structure is like this

\\ANDROID_478ED\share
asec
obb
sda
sdb
sdcard
secure
shell

Of those, I cannot access the last 3, sdcard, secure and shell. I got the "you do not have permission to access".
