-
great! will give it a try later when I get home ;)
-
Does it fixes the audio drop outs with 23,796 movies as well?
-
Download link added.
It only fixes the 720p 3D-ISO problem.
-
Any plans to fix the audio issue either?
-
Any plans to fix the audio issue either?
Himedia are working on the occasional audio dropout problem with some 23.976 video.
They have a good record of fixing things and I expect it to be fixed soon.

Did this audio dropout only occurs when you use a NAS ?
-
No, I don't think so.
-
It would be great to hear if and when a new firmware come out that solves the sound and ghosting issue.

Hisilicon and Himedia are both Huawei company,so same company for Soc hardware and software.
One of the point have chose this player,it's not equal have fast support but it can have better chance(i hope.)

As Looun says. I'm sure it will come. Himedia (and Hisilicon and Huawei..) are big and high quality organisations.
-
Let's hope so and i'll order a second device :p
-
@ futeko.....
Any news on new firmware?
the last firmware 1.0.9.1 is date 16 june.... :(
-
Funny you ask as I was wondering the same thing. Last looun and I heard from HiMedia engineers was June 3rd. Maybe they're still waiting on the h/w fix, but would be nice to know status for audio sync and ghosting issues. The audio part is more serious as ghosting seems to be more sporadic.
-
All I need is the new media player :)
I have no ghosting issue and dont use HD Audio
Hopefully a new FW comes for you guys with problems though.
-
Hey,
im new here and i want to buy this product because theres simply no better one available out there even for 300 bucks.
The entire 3d ghosting + audio stuttering is putting me down tho the fact that the firmware wasnt updated for 2 months is also a huge problem for me.
I will buy this device when its fixed and i hope thats soon because my blu ray collection is waiting to get stored on my nas.
Kind regards
MartPwnS
PS: I love this forum its the only forum with actual contact to the guys in china.
-
EVERY device have bug......... ;D , if you waiting a perfect media player ... you became very very very old.
3d ghosting it's not all film and not with all tv/ 3d glass
audio drop it's random and 1-2 time when playback film, with tv series there aren't.
it's little bug ,try another box ... it have big problem or less function , no 3d or no HD audio or no 23,976.
the other way is htpc with kodi, but different price.
-
+1. The audio issue is more of an annoyance (more like 5-6 times in a 2-hour movie for me). The ghosting issue, only some users have reported, and in my case, it's dependent on which 3D glasses I use (effect goes away with one pair, while there with one, and varies by movie).
-
Still waiting to buy it as second device too
However, my m3 doesnt have this audio and 3d ghosting issue
-
Likely related to 23.976 with audio not 'timed' to sync (just a guess), but it's there. You're lucky not to have it with M3 as it's the same H/W as Q5 and Q10.
As much as I like my Q5, I'm on the fence about switching to Raspberry Pi2. Only things holding me back are: (1) converting all my 3D ISO's to MVC MKV's, and (2) the occasional sync issues I have with my BenQ W1070 projector (when trying to go back to Kodi UI after playing 3D). Losing ATMOS or the upcoming DTS:X is no biggie as I only have a 7.1 set-up (and Pi2 decodes HD audio and passes as LPCM to get full quality audio anyway).
On RPi2, no audio dropouts, no ghosting, great PQ (w/o any processing), perfect 23.976 and internal Kodi player.
-
Losing atmos is a point for me, however having to convert all iso to mvc mkv is a pain in the ass.
I wont do that
So for me, its a no go
i thought pi would get iso support...
-
No product at the moment is perfect. And probably nothing ever will be.
I'm no expert in things Pi (although we do have one in the office for comparisons sake) but the DIY aspect of it puts me off. No remote, no casing, everything needing some technical knowledge.
The Himedia boxes are more straightforward and complete products for playing media in the home.
-
i do hope we get a message soon of new firmware coming that fixes audio stuttering problem and 3d ghosting

You're right to a degree, but given how easy it is to assemble a Pi box, it's barely DIY. Buy board, case, 8GB mSD card and a power adapter, and you stick board into box, write the OpenELEC image to mSD and stick into Pi, connect power and you're done.
HiMedia remains an excellent choice, but RPi2 has edge in a seamless Kodi experience with 3D, lack of ghosting and no audio drop-outs. On the other hand, HiMedia is a little easier to set-up out of the box (although you need to manually update firmware, install Kodi, and apply wrapper) and does 3D ISO and ATMOS (while Pi is only MVC MKV and decoded 5.1/7.1 LPCM).

@FUTEKO
Is this Product dead? No more updates?
-
Expected within the next week or two. I've moved on to Raspberry Pi2, but still keeping an eye on Q5.

How do you know that?
-
So, additional problems have raised.
Kodi crashes....
Tried different versions of Kodi and different versions of Q5 firmware, but nothing helps....
Finally I tried the Custom Firmware, http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=172.0 and Kodi 15.1 also installed the wrapper to get Atmos in Kodi.....
ALL PROBLEMS DISAPPEARED.......
-
How do you know that?
Per one of their engineers' e-mail on Aug. 18: "...in 2 or 3 weeks". I'd give them the time they need as they've already indicated they're working on the issues. The audio sync is related to getting a new HiSilicon SDK, so testing the fix w/it and doing regression testing to make sure all previous improvements still work well isn't a quick & easy thing. The ghosting issue I'm not sure will be addressed in the next fix as HiMedia engineers couldn't see/replicate the issue at their end last communication we had giving them examples, etc. Also, some here have reported they see ghosting, others not, and in my case it was dependent on which glasses I used (DLP-link type with BenQ W1070).

ALL PROBLEMS DISAPPEARED.......
Including random audio dropouts w/24fps setting enabled? And 3D ghosting? I don't see how the former could disappear as the custom FW is still based on the original firmware & present SDK.

You're absolutely right so hdmkv...
should we buy another product type in order to fulfill our wishes?
-
I did... moved to Raspberry Pi 2 w/OpenELEC (Kodi). Needs MVC MKV instead of 3D ISO, but you get full 3D, and HD audio decoded & passed to your AVR. So, full HD audio quality, just not bitstreamed. You will lose ATMOS & DTS:X however. Otherwise, perfect 23.976, no audio sync/dropout issues & no ghosting.
Still holding on to my HiMedia Q5 for a while longer though. It remains a solid 3D player.
-
Has anyone tested thus custom firmware as well to see which problems really have disappeared?
-
The bugs will not go away with the modded firmware. It is noting more than 1.0.9.1 with some updates to apps and some new apps added to it. There are no differences in the actual android OS
-
...or the SDK, which is apparently where the audio dropouts issue is. The 3D ghosting issues got introduced at some point, so something else is probably causing it.
-
Have updates stopped as its been a while!
