Title: Stay in Android 7
Post by: Marathin on March 19, 2017, 06:37:44 AM
Hi Guys,

I'm totally confused by all the Posts.

Getting my Q10pro tomorrow with Android 5.1 I ask myself if I really should Update to Android 7 because ist seems that the following issues I want to use will Not Work:

-External HDD on Q10pro USB
-Using KODi ( 17 or netter Not) for

     - Movies ISO ( also 3D)& MKV ( only 2D)
     - HD Audio ( Atmos, DTS:X)...Yes I got an AV Handling These Formats

To handle These requirements

- Stay on Android 5.1??
- which Firmware ??
- KODi 16 or 17 (i.e. KODi 16 when Android 5.1 / KODi 17 when Android 7)??

Hope my question ist not to boring for the all the Professional helpers here ::)

Kind regards!!!!!!!

I used both versions and downgraded yesterday to Android 5 again.
Since then, some of my issues with KODI 17 are gone.
There weren't really any benefits i saw from using Android 7.
So... i'd advise to stay at
5.

Scratch that, music playback also crashes in A5.
Krypton is garbage.

I am on Android 7 and Kodi 17.
Turning off Kodi auto-updates fixed my issues with 17 and it has been working fine.

My playback from USB and network NAS using SMB has been no problems.
Audio passthrough for 7.1 is perfect (using the wrapper that comes from HiMedia).  This is because the built-in MediaCenter plays it all very well.

Android 7 is much faster for file transfers over the network.  Kodi 17 fixes the bug that occurred of duplicate drive names showing up in Kodi 16.1.
The next firmware update is said to be due this week, so you may as well wait before moving?

Not all issues are fixed  with Kodi 17.
And audio passthrough is not working in Kodi 17 with streams and also not with Wrapper!

My advice if you are getting an Android 5.1 Q10 Pro today (not from us if Android 5  :( ) is to wait for the next Android 7 firmware and install that.

It won't be long, you might as well wait. The answers to your questions will change with new firmware.

I would install firmware, then sign up to Play Store to update all apps (this should update Kodi also), then install any patches.

I think it is best at this time to stay with firmware 1:09 until HiMedia the problems with Android 7 and Kodi 17 solved!

@Marathin In the german forum for the Q10 pro you can download and try the 1.1.0 Beta, Android 5.1.
I have tested it too and found it not necessary for me. Wrapper with this FW seems to be the same - the same HDR problem. But it's only a Beta, maybe in a final this is solved.
