Title: Update on new FW and pending issues
Post by: nick81 on March 15, 2017, 06:04:18 AM
Dear Futeko,

Can we please get some update on all pending issues, still not resolved? Chinese New Year has been over for some time now. Is there some beta FW being tested at least?

Here are the problems I am facing which are VERY annoying :

1- Kodi's internet access : download subtitles, refreshing the library, basically anything that requires Kodi to access internet is a complete nightmare. I need to retry 2-3 times before  a subtitles gets downloaded or a movie gets its info refreshed. I keep getting connection errors otherwise.

2- Subtitles STILL disappear every now and then and even though Futeko found the issue more than 2 months ago, we still don't have a fix for this simple issue. I appreciate the fact that they might want to combine many fixes in a single patch but considering we don't have any visibility whatsoever on when to expect that next patch, we are forced to accept the problems we are facing without any solution in sight.

3- Kodi 17 crashes more frequently than any previous version before it.

Someone here mentioned that all the issues in Kodi are NOT present on the Nvidia Shield box. So if the Kodi team is only supporting one device, can Futeko explore other media players to use in the Q10? I mean, our issues are not even with the box itself but with a 3rd party app that is sadly the REASON we bought the Q10 for:  watching media content. Would SPMC be a good alternative?

Agree with the above

Just want to add that the "output resolution change" problem still isn't fixed.
It now default to 1080p (that is better than 720p as it did before :-) )
But please.....
I bought a 4K@60fps and want to use it like that.

1 - kodi 16.1 and SPMC is always work perfect.
3 - kodi 17 work only with shield, you must ask kodi team to fix it.

Archos media player is good alternative.

- Bluray 3D ISO Output is 24hz and not 23.976 = Microstutter

- Auto Framerate doesnt change on 50/60hz Sources

-Output Resolution still resets to from 2160p to 1080i sometimes

-HDR 2160p cropped Aspect Ratio Problem (zoomed to FS)

Strange, I read that Kodi 17 works great on many cheap Chinese boxes, but we have bought an expensive HiMedia so we expect better support!

And this is in the HiMedia ad;

"KODI + WRAPPER - ALL HARDWARE FEATURES IN KODI Any version of Kodi (including version 17) can be modified by an easy to install HiMedia patch (known as 'wrapper') giving 4K60 Ultra-HD, HDR10, 10bit colour, 7.1 HD-Audio, and 3D ISO support in Kodi. This is a feature unique to HiMedia Android boxes and allows you to pair Kodi's unrivalled media management with HiMedia's unrivalled format support and image quality. Kodi 16.1 + wrapper is pre-installed ready to go."

I am waiting for the samba mount patch to be applied as I am mac based and don't have a windows machine to load the batch.

I would expect  known issues to be fixed quicker especially features that get broken in new releases, at least a forward plan would help, but HiMdia is a small company and probably don't have the manpower needed or thats how it appears!

Egreat looks to be twicw the size and seems to gets fixes out much quicker as well as direct forum support.

I wonder if I am backing the wrong horse as HiMedia seem to have gone off the boil recently.

Futeko say HiMedia is their main focus, I hope their loyalty is not mis placed.

I am not waiting much longer! At least Futeko now have more than one runner ...... Trouble is the hardware is changing faster than the software and at this rate all these boxes will be out of date before they work properly!

It depends on expectations. If you buy something for $50 and it works but stutters a bit you'll probably say it works great. Kodi 17 works bad on all Android hardware except Shield, basically.

I'm not sure why you quote the section from our website. It refers to Kodi+wrapper playing local files.

I have no new update or specific update. I/we wait to see what HiMedia come up with.

The ad has changed, because when I bought there  just stood that the Q10 Pro  works fine with Kodi 17, but recently you changed it!  :-\
And you do not buy a Kodi media player to play only local files, then you can better buy a box of $50.

And with this kind of delays and answers it wil cost Futeko and HiMedia customers!

+ 1 to  all of the above mentioned, and this:

Screensaver/dimmer is an ESSENTIAL feature to have in both the Launcher/Menu Screen and under the Himedia Player as well.

With 1.0.9 fw the Box came to be a "so-so", tolerably acceptable device, just hope they won't mess up any new things, while fixing some older bugs with the upcoming fw.

It's pretty obvious from the quote you give that our Q10 Pro page hasn't changed recently. It states that Kodi 16.1 is pre-installed, which hasn't been the case since mid January. The page needs updating..

I won't labour the point, but you are accusing us of something which is not true. We have always been very honest about the products we sell.

I have for the first time attempted to play an MKV file with AAC 2.0 audio, there was no sound and I had to search around to find that the options needed to be set to 5.1 not 7.1 to play.

There are a few stickies for patches and fixes but not one called known problems that lists all the problems  in one place.

Am I missing somthing but wouldn't this be helpful?

If there was a list then planned fix dates could be added.

This is also my most important issue. Also most AAC 5.1 results in no sound too regardless of 5.1 or 7.1 settings. Looking forward to a fix for awhile now, currently I just use Kodi DVDPlayer for AAC audio.
