Purchased the Q10 pro to replace my trustworthy NEO X8-H since kit-kat was not being supported with future Kodi versions. With the prospect of investing on the Android box in the market but it turned out I am very disappointed.
I am using the same external USB3 1tb WD My Passport hard disk with mkv movies. The movies are jerky at times and freeze. I tried both Android 5.1 and 7 firmware. Kodi 17 and Kodi 16.1. I even did a factory reset and did not install anything else. I am running the box in 1080p 60 Hz with spdif pass-through. Also tried an internal 1tb drive but with the same results. Also does not make a difference connecting the USB3 or USB2.
It is even worst using wrapper. The box is well ventilated and there are no heating problems.
Reverted back using the NEO X8-H and all is working properly with the same hard drive and the same movies that failed on the Q10.
Is the Q10 defective? Any suggestions please!

You should have no problems at all playing any 1080p MKV on Q10 Pro.
Even using Kodi native player you should have no problems.
The problems you describe sound like what you'd see if the box was overheating. Does the box get hot to the touch when playing the freezing files?
Otherwise, it sounds like you've tried what I'd suggest (last resort would be complete firmware reinstall). The problem could be hardware related, in which case contact your reseller for RMA.

Thanks a lot for your kind help. Really great support! Unfortunately only got to know about you after I purchased the Q10. No it does not seem to heat up, could it the power supply not be powerful enough?
As per your post will wait for the new firmware since it is on its way and do a complete firmware reinstall.
Thank you

I guess it could be the PSU so it would be worth trying a replacement.
You can use any 12V 1.5A+ PSU (up to 4A). Tip size is 5.5 x 2.1 with center pin positive.
