Title: upgrade to cfw
Post by: kairi033 on June 09, 2015, 08:22:13 AM
Hi guys I'm a new proud owner of q5 unit, I successfully root my unit last night on cfw 1.0.8 now then I'd like to update to the latest cfw. Will I lose my root access after the upgrade? Please let me know about this.

TIA ;)

By cfw do you mean the Chinese firmware?

If it were a European box then updating the firmware would cause a complete reinstall and you would lose root.

sorry for the confusion, what I meant is custom firmware (cfw) that I got here in futeko. I am planning on installing the latest custom firmware (1.0.9) , so maybe you're right that I'll lose root access once updated....

Thanks for all the replies, by the way, may I ask if you're using launcher for this unit? and what kind of launcher is the best for performance and UI? as much as possible I like a simple but cool UI with a simple settings.

TIA
