Title: Q5 / Q10 4K3D CS Custom Firmwares
Post by: futeko.com on June 08, 2015, 12:06:43 PM
CS (user pcristi on this forum) has created custom firmwares for Q5 and Q10 4K3D with added+updated apps, ad blocking and some fixes.

This thread is an index to those CS custom firmwares.

DO NOT TRY AND INSTALL Q5 FIRMWARE ON Q10 OR VICE VERSA. IT WILL BRICK YOUR BOX.

Should I just wait the new firmware release by futeko which will likely to include the updated apps?

The Himedia official firmware won't contain many of the apps included in the custom firmware. It will always be more streamlined.

I would recommend installing the CS custom firmware if it's the same version number as official (as it is now with 1.0.9).

Every time you update the firmware, you have to re-do your Kodi library, which is a hassle, unless you save the userdata file. That's easy on the custom firmware but I'm currently on the official 1.0.9 firmware which doesn't give access to that level in the file manager. Anyone know how to get deeper (root) access to save the Kodi file before updating the firmware? Thanks very much!

Edit: Resolved by downloading ES File Explorer from the Play Store and ticking the "display hidden folders" box

Decided to give the custom firmware a try, But it seems to completely cork the LCD screen on the front of the box. I get all kinds of squiggly stuff on boot and once fully loaded its blank.

Q5 or Q10?

Best thing to do is post on the softpedia forum, that way CS will register the problem.

I've just tested Q10 CS on a Q10 4K3D here and all is normal. No LCD problem.

Kodiloaded, when you say Q10 do you mean Q10 Q10?!

It only seems to do it after you do a full power off with the button on the box  not the remote

cristianstoica sent me a pm with a link to test firmware he had just compiled after reading my post, Just got done testing it with the same results. Gibberish on the LCD then nothing at all just blank.

I have to say, I wish he was also releasing his custom firmwares in alternate versions that would not have any of those reverts. I typically prefer using updated versions of the apps, and I don't mind the factors he lists as their shortcomings.

I think so but you should ask Kodiloaded / KDLINKS. We don't have an A300 to test.

Should add that installing KDLINKS or other firmware on a Q10 may invalidate warranty depending on where you bought the Q10 from.

As far as we're concerned you can install any firmware from our forum or the official Himedia download site. Other retailers might have a different policy.

Hello JCR

Sorry not custom with Auto framerate switching, HiMedia 24Hz ON is doing good job for all most users of Q5/Q10 4K3D.
If someone rely need FULL switch to run on this box, him have to manually install script.

Hi, I've recently installed this custom firmware and for the most part it's working.

On the launcher screen, I've found that the power off button, when pressed, hangs the himedia device and the remote control cannot turn the himedia off. The himedia needs to be physically turned off and rebooted to work again.

Is there a way to get this power off functioning properly, or how to just remove the malfuctioning power button completely from the launcher.

OK I solved it.
Found a similar issue on the q10/Q5pro custom rom section and downloaded the pwer menu files from that and tried to update, it would not.

I downloaded the modified power menu apk and rooted my device.

Uninstalled the non working power menu apk from the system using root uninstaller.

Copied and pasted the working power menu apk into the system app folder.

Installed the power menu apk from the system apk folder and the power menu is functioning properly now.
