Title: Kodi 17 Final
Post by: duckietm on February 06, 2017, 11:44:36 AM
Team Kodi are very happy to announce the immediate availability of Kodi 17.0 (Krypton) for Windows, Android, MacOS and iOS. Krypton brings updated default user interfaces, better organisation of settings, and many under-the-hood changes on VideoPlayer, Music Library, PVR, audio on Android, and thousands of small bugfixes and improvements to stability.

Can you update the Q10 with the latest Kodi as well please !

Kodi 17 Beta is already present on 2.0.1 firmware, it will probably be updated to Kodi 17 final when it will be available. From what I read about Kodi 17 Beta, things are not so good and Kodi 17 Beta is rather unstable and broke a lot of working things. I will check if Kodi 17 final is available on my Q10 Pro tonight when I get back home.

Kodi 17 final is available from Play Store and can be installed normally on any Q5/Q10 Pro running any firmware.

It will be included pre-installed in future firmware.

The most recent Android 5.1.1 firmware (1.0.9) has Kodi 16.1 pre-installed and the most recent Android 7 firmware has Kodi 17RC2 pre-installed.

In my opinion you are better sticking with Kodi 16.1. Kodi 17 has problems with video stuttering (particularly with streaming add-ons - on all Android hardware) and does not support HD-audio passthrough (even 5.1) on Q5/Q10 Pro from Kodi native player.

Can we use Kodi 16.1 with android 7 or should we use Android 5.1 ?

Yes you can use Kodi 16.1 with Android 7. It works exactly as with Android 5.1.1.

Ok thanks
It's working better with kodi 16.1 for android 7
I had to uninstall manually kodi 17 first

So dd5. 1 pass-through ok
Dts 5.1 also ok

Dd truehd decode to pcm
Dts HD decode to dts core

It's quite better
But waiting for kodi 17 compatibility for HD audio within videoplayer
Will be close to perfection!

We should after that need wrapper just for 3diso and imprex video settings...
Am I alright?

I would say that is pretty correct. I highly recommend installing the AutoFramerate Switcher by @looun and @pcristi. It works well with Nougat based firmware too.
