pcristi strikes again with another excellent custom firmware, this time for Q5 4K3D!
It's based on the Chinese 3.0.4 firmware (so one version later than the most recent official European firmware) and offers a customised interface very reminiscent of Q5/Q10 Pro. As usual with CS custom firmware it updates key apps and dramatically improves UI appearance.

FIRMWARE IS FOR EUROPEAN Q5 4K3D ONLY.
DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL IT ON Q10 4K3D OR CHINESE HARDWARE Q5 4K3D.
update_quadcore_Q5(updates&themed)_HMD-3.0.4 20160429.152729 (based on Chinese official HMD-3.0.4 20160429.152729)
Installation Instructions:
1. Request Q5 4K3D running Android 4.4.2
2. Rename update_Q(...)4K3D_(...)_HMD-3.0.4(...).zip to update.zip.
3. Copy update.zip to the root of a USB pen drive.
4. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of the Q5 4K3D.
5. With the Q5 4K3D turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole restore button on the right side of the Q5 4K3D.
6. While keeping the restore button pressed, turn on the Q5 4K3D.
7. The Q5 4K3D will show an Android droid logo and proceed to upgrade the firmware.
8. The box will auto-reboot when finished.
9. First boot take 5-6 minutes.
Entire update process ca take up to 10 minutes, just wait...

Nice firmware. Everything is smooth and stable.
It solved my sound dropping problem.
But the videos are always played in Fullscreen in Himedia player.
So I need to Quit Fullscreen every time I play a video...
How to change this default behavior?

I've also tested the firmware, seems the audio dropping problem is fixed, but what about any version of KODI at least 16.1?
Anyone with success?

I've tested the new firmware and have some notes:
1. No autoframerate.
2. I have to use "quit full screen" function with any film. Is it possible to turn it off permanently?

I got the answer for point 2/
You need to go to the main settings on your home page.
The Playback, Maintain Aspect Ration, and choose Keep Ratio.

I have a little problem, if i play a mkv video it doesn't switch to 24p frame. Tried with different videos but no changes. In the settings I already have turned on the the 24p playback but it doesn't effect on it. My player is a Himedia q5 quad 2014 with the custom 3.04 firmware. Any ideas for the problem ? With the old firmware 3.03 it hadn't the problem only with new one.

Are you sure you have a Q5 4K3D? What does it say on the bottom right of the front panel?

h 264 mkv 1080p real hd ape plac
on the right side i have 3 usb and a point for the restore.
I've tried with many firmw. but it doesen't working.
It is possible to flash this tvbox using any others usb-tools for example with a pc?
In your opinion it is possible to do a recovery or to introduce a new recovery.?
The only thins that it is doing by now it is the android logo.

I'm 97% sure you don't have a Q5 4K3D.
Q5 has existed in four generations. Q5, Q5II, Q5 4K3D (or quad), Q5 Pro. I think you have one of the first two.
We never sold those products, so we don't have firmware.

I have installed, working perfectly, but I can't play from KODI via Wrapper. Wrapper setup says default player is KODI, but nothing happaned, immidiatelly play with the kodi player. In the list doesn't have "choose player"
What can I do?

I just installed this firmware on my Q5 and love it :)
I also like that ES Explorer is on the front page.
I'm having an issue with it though: Everytime I boot the box it automatically starts the ES Explorer. I remember that I may have turned off the box with the front button when the ES Explorer was full screen.
Does this firmware check which app was opened during shutdown and opens it again?
I've tried to keep other apps open, but it always starts ES Explorer.
Any ideas how I get the Launcher-Screen back after boot?

PS: I've tried to set another app as "default app" via the "My Apps" menu and then via "menu"-button and "Default Start". ES Explorer is still the starting app. After I close the ES Explorer the starting-app appears :(
