Hi,
I used last Android 7 firmware with Kodi 17RC
Most of my movies are "simple" AC3/DTS soundtracks, even not HD AUDIO
and I would like to use kodi internal videoplayer for those movies
Is it possible ? I don't manage to make it work
Wrapper is ok for passthrough
Configuration : Q10 Audio settings : all "RAW"
KODI 17 audio settings : passthrough enabled, channel 2.0, AC3 transcoding desabled
When I use videoplayer, I get no sound and PCM 2.0 in AV Receiver
In Kodi, gui sounds, 2.0 sound track or music track is ok.

From testing here, I can confirm that passthrough does not work from Kodi 17 RC2 (or3) internal player and any multi-channel audio.
It's been passed to HiMedia, but it will be a couple of weeks before anything gets fixed because of the Chinese New Year holiday.

These issues are since they released the kodi 17 betas for a long time ago.

I will post my settings here in case it helps, 7.1 channel audio works for me in general with KODI 17 RC3:
1. MY KODI version is 17 RC3, which is the version that Q10pro updates to after installing Android 7 (either firmware 2.0 or 2.0.1 it doesn't matter).
2. Wrapper is set to HiMedia Player not KODI !
3. Go to System Settings in KODI and select expert mode (in the lower left corner of system settings, by default you will see basic mode, click twice : first for ADVANCE mode, second for EXPERT mode) , in that way you will be able to see all the AUDIO features needed to change.
4. Go to AUDIO settings, then change the following:
a) Change to ON :
- Audio Passtrough
- AC3 capable receiver
-DOLBY TRUE-HD capable receiver
-DTS-HD capable receiver
b) CHANGE (or KEEP) to "OFF" :
- AC3 decoding
Remember if you have 5.1 or 7.1 DOLBY and DTS AV Home Cinema then you should send the audio signal RAW , meaning the AV RECEIVER has to do the decoding, not KODI !
5. Also in Q10 Pro Android Settings, go to audio and change the 3 options to RAW; RAW and RAW 7.1 (if you have a 7.1 receiver, otherwise just RAW)
6. Do not forget that if you are using and HDMI 1.3 or higher (preferable HDMI 1.4 or better a 2.0a cable) you will be able to get 7.1 channel output, otherwise if you are using digital SPDF out audio cable, then you will only get 5.1 (Dolgy Digital and DTS) output but NOT DOLBY TRUE-HD OR DTS-HD 7.1 OUTPUT.
These settings works for me. I am using an HDMi 2.0a cable and a Pioneer 7.1 Home cinema AV receiver.

I get no audio output at all with those settings.
Everything of course plays perfectly using wrapper.

I forgot to mention that I have wrapper set to HIMedia Player, but still when I play my files within KODI the sound is OK. (I have corrected my previous "tutorial" and now I mention that I use wrapper set to HiMedia Center and NOT to KODI..

My AV receiver is a Pioneer VSX 1131, yours should be even better :)
It is a bit unstable as sometimes KODI crashes, but I did manage to get the 7.1 sound out, I have measured several times even with audio test files for DTS-HD 7.1 and DOLBY TRUE-HD 7.1 and the sound does come out well and decoded to the related format.

I get the same result.
It does seem like Kodi is not able to use HDMI, even HDMI in RAW setting.
Strange that some users report it to be working and others don't.
My receiver is an anthem MRX 720, which plays almost any audio.

I switched back to 16.1 Jarvis, works fine and stable.

Passthrough never worked for anybody here with kodi 17. Only with using the wrapper in kodi 17 all works as expected. I think its a bug in android fw from himedia. Normaly you should get the core sounds like Dolby and DTS when using kodi player. But there is no sound, only when you set pcm as standard. But you only get 2.0.

It's Chinese New Year holiday in China now, so nobody is working.
After the holiday HiMedia will be looking at why there is not multi-channel audio in Kodi 17 using Kodi internal player.
In the meantime Kodi 17 plus wrapper works perfectly.
My opinion is that Kodi+wrapper is a better solution in general because it eliminates one possible cause of bugs/problems, namely Kodi development/non-development.

Yeah, but you only get ~80 % of the subtitles - tough decision.

Same result here.
Denon x1200W, no audio in kodi.
Wrapper works like a charm.

Hello,
first many thanks to Futeko team for this work here in the forum.
I have the sam problem with the pass through Audio from Kodi.
My AVR shows, when pass through is on in Kodi, no Input signal.Pass trough off than I have 2.0ch PCM. Wrapper set to Kodi.
Wrapper set not to kodi Sound work.
I look in many forums and many have the same problem. With Himedia devices or other or with Android or Windows.
I not know where the problem is. Because with Kodi 16.1 it should work. First think is that Kodi 17 had a problem. But Andorid 7 is new and have chances in audio.
I hope that this problem will solved. Because like the Kodi player for video.
Himedia Pro 10, last Firmware, Android 7, Kodi 17

HiMedia are investigating the lack of HD-Audio passthrough in Kodi 17 native player.
Short term workaround is to downgrade to Kodi 16.1 or use wrapper with Kodi 17.

Hi,
is there any news about this? Yesterday I installed the final version of Kodi and I don't have any sound when using pass through. I had to reset everything to it's default and manually had to adjust the output on the receiver. BTW, I have a Q10

Nothing. Were still waiting for real passthrough with android 7 and kodi and hdr bugfixing. Its nearly end of may. ::)

We still need to use the wrapper for the time being.... (it works fine for full audio passthrough).
There are other threads with Kodi audio work-arounds for use in streaming Kodi add-ons.
