Hi - I have searched but cannot find a definitive answer on this...
Does my Q10 pro support Dolby Vision? I am sure the specs used to state this but now they don't?!
If I select either Auto or DOLBY in the HDR settings, no matter what, DV videos play with sound only and a black screen.
Any info?

Forget about DV!
False advertising!

No way?!
So it doesn't have it??

Dolby Vision is in an obscured state as far as I can judge. Specifically who is going to apply it or not on standard to be distributed material. Google is once more an ofender as is proposes yet another HDR (dynamic) standard.

Original chipset / Q5Q10Pro specs stated support for Dolby Vision.
This was revised in ~ June 2016 (shortly after Q10 Pro launched and before Q5 Pro) to state that there was no support.
The specs on our website have always reflected the latest and most accurate information.
I know some resellers continue to state Dolby Vision support even now, but to accuse us of 'false advertising' is a little harsh.

"Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios (MGM) and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment are the two studios which have committed to Dolby Vision, a high-dynamic-range (HDR) format and playback solution, beginning this year."
The studios are starting to commit.
Very disappointed. Read a few reviews, saw it advertised in a few places as having DV, then bought from an official reseller. Must admit I didn't check the specs again when I bought it, didn't see the need. Guess I should have!

So is the "DOLBY" setting in HDR just a bug/erroneous item which needs removing?

So is the "DOLBY" setting in HDR just a bug/erroneous item which needs removing?
Yes. It was removed in Android 5.1 FW only to reappear in Android 7. It's coming from the HiSilicon base firmware.

Ok thanks for confirming. It's a big shame as this feature really set this box ahead of others. Assuming it's never coming, or is the hardware there, just no license or something??
Hopefully the new firmware resolves the current bugs as well, this box is close to being perfect!
Is it still coming this week?

I believe Dolby Vision requires a hardware chip.
The HDR format war has a long way to run and it's by no means certain that Dolby Vision will even exist in a few years. The big studios don't have the power they once did, and a free open-source solution (HDR10) would appear to fit better with how the media industry is developing.

According to Matt McRae, CTO of Vizio (i.e. a Dolby Vision-compliant TV manufacturer), there is no specific Dolby Vision hardware chip and "Dolby Vision is a format + processing/mapping software".
Like HDR10, Dolby Vision can be implemented on a SoC (i.e. computer System-on a-Chip): the SoC is a hardware & software computer system, and the SoC hardware is not specifically designed for Dolby Vision as well as for HDR10 or any other HDR format.
However, a Dolby Vision capable SoC shall have sufficiently powerful processing due to the massive level of Dolby Vision processing.
