Title: Use in a Car?

Hi Folks,

Just joined and looking forward to experiencing the unit that I have also just purchased to replace my ageing WD live TV hub.

I want one of these to replace the above and I'm sure it will work well for its intended role, but I'm also interested in fitting one to my car and would appreciate peoples thoughts good or bad on doing so.

I suppose the big things if in a car would be if it could run Navigation apps, OBD diagnostics and things that you might do in a car.

I already have digital TV in the car so don't need that but the hard drive with movies, music etc would be great, if it could run sat nav that would be fantastic.

It would also be nice to be able to control it by touchscreen panel input via USB.

What do you think, any of these things possible?

Look forward to your thoughts and ideas.

You can try which APP's run before mounting it into a car. But obviously the SOC does not contain a GPS chip as all smartphones and tablets have and is needed for navigation.

The only other thing to take care of specifically would be the 12V power supply. I do recommend to stabilize it before feeding it to the media player. In a car it can go up to 14V-15V which it might not like. A mounted HDD should be able to deal with the G-forces subjected to in a car when driving, but be sure to have  a copy.
Using the Q10 Pro you may use the front panel input buttons next to the Hicontrol APP on an old/cheap smartphone.

I hope it is to be used by passengers only as driving in combination does not sound like a real good idea to me.

Can a Bluetooth GPS unit be added to the g10 pro?

Good shout on the stabilisation of power.

Safety wise it's fine. The car has the ability to display the screen in the front as well as the screens in the back but neither me or the wife would watch video whilst driving.

If there was video playing games for rear seats the drivers screen can be switched off.

One would expect an Android platform to work with an USB or Bluetooth GPS  unit. But try before you buy.
