Hi,
I have problem with subtitles encoding:
1) half subtitles are encoded as ANSI (cp1251)
2) the other half are encoded as UTF-8 (cp1251)
I've tried to save the UTF-8 encoded with BOM (Byte Order Mark), no success
I've set the option "Subtitle encoding" to "Slavic(CP1251)".
The result:
1) work normally
2) does not work - I guess the player didn't tried whether are UTF encoded)
My previous player works like that.
Encoding was for unknown ANSI files (how to convert them to UNICODE) and UTF-8 encoded are always decoded to UNICODE using the proper font.

Hi all,
No other with similar problem?
Not necessary to be the same encoding :)
I know if I keep in bluray remux (container MKV/M2TS) the original PGS subtitles everything will be ok,
but what about the movies without subtitles?
I found only SRT subtitles?

Hi all!
Why not playing unicode external .srt?

Hi all!
Why not playing unicode external .srt?
If the player reads UTF-8 it means that it already supports UNICODE because UTF-8 does packing of other codings.
The problem is detection of input container i.e. UTF-8 and UNICODE encoded should not be affected of our choice

Hi
Embedded error subtitles... (UTF-8)
what is the type of the subtitles?
SRT or PGS in MKV?
I guess SRT because upper right corner of the snapshot - Embedded TX.... and UTF-8 encoding which is the use in MKV ?!?
If that is correct probably you may have error in subtitles like closing tag for italic </i> without opening tag for italic <i> or
may be this is a software error :).
You can extract the subtitles from the movie via mkvtoolnix or eac3to and look at line for time 00:01:48 (approximately from snapshot)
is it opening tag or not.....
I usually use Subtitle Workshop 4 for preprocessing - it clears such errors - will erase the closing tag or put opening tag and
after that I put them into MKV (if needed). In this case - SRT subtitles are external files in my collection.

Yes, .srt. This is subtitle good Popcorn, Dune, WD mediaplayer...

I've replaced Dune HD TV-303D with HiMedia Q54K because it does not have problems with 3D ISO files, but Dune has no problems with subtitles and auto detecting charset

The Q5 Pro also has the same error. (The subtitles good.)
2016... Man on the Moon... :'( :'( :'(

I'm not suprised.
I think all working and non-working things will remain the same in the software of the new player / chipset (i.e. Q5 Pro).
The guys from HiMedia read this forum, but what decide to repair/fix or improve, no one knows.
Never mind.... no new version.... one thing is fixed, another is broken......
HiMedia Q54K 3D .... what?!? such product doesn't exists
