Hi
Can the HiMedia Q10 Pro be paired with the Youtube app on my smartphone?
So I can cast videos from the app straight to it when they are in the same wireless home network?

Q10 Pro is another Android device, I do not think you can cast to it as you would do it for a TV. Personally I do not think it will ever be possible, not even nVidia Shield TV can do this. You can however use Miracast.

Only "Andriod TV" box support 'Google Cast' like shield, mi box ecc...
You can playback only local file like photo and video from smartphone to Q10 with DLNA.

Do any of these have a slot to insert a HDD like the Q10 has?

Nope, none of them has one. They have USB slots. This is one of the strong selling points for the Q10 Pro that convinced me to buy it.

Is there any other way of searching for youtube videos on phone and having them play on Q10 other than mirroring?

For an Android phone, HiControl?
