I have 3 Android media players. The Measy is useless. The Open Hour Chameleon is 90% good and with Kodi Isengarde you do get all of the audio formats, DTS, DTS-X, True HD, Atmos etc. The Himedia Q5 Pro is most certainly the best of the lot but I too have been mystified as to why Isengarde on the OHC enables all formats and Jarvis on the Q5 does not. I believe this is all down to Kodi and not the respective players or chips.

It's because Rockchip (chipset manufacturer for Open Hour Chameleon) released code that enabled HD-Audio for Kodi Isengard. Our HiMedia H8 (RK3368) also has a version of Isengard with full HD-Audio support.

Unfortunately this code seems to be limited to Kodi Isengard, so what seemed like excellent work from Rockchip is in fact limiting the Kodi upgrade path for Rockchip based products.

The Kodi+wrapper solution used by HiMedia is the best solution for Android Kodi because it works with new standard versions of Kodi. You are not waiting for Kodi updates from the chipset manufacturer / factory which may never come. For instance, HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro will work fine with Kodi 17 using wrapper, so you get new Kodi interface +  existing HiMediaplayer capabilities.

Excellent reply and clears up some thoughts I had - thank you
