This firmware does not have the HiMedia Kodi wrapper pre-installed (HiMedia have decided that this is best) so if you want 7.1 audio and 3D support in Kodi you will have to install it.

The wrapper has been tested by us on the pre-installed Kodi 14.2 and Kodi 15.0 alpha2 and works fine.

See here for download and installation instructions: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=60.0

Apps we've tested as available in Play Store and working include: BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, Spotify, Youtube, Kodi 14.2, Kodi 15.0, Netflix.

+ 1 i have the plasma tv also, with q5 image quality on plasma is awesome.  ;D
If screensaver is hard to be implementing , can be easy use "dim" like kodi.

and

On fw 1.0.8 wasn't fix auto-witch fps 50<>60 or 60<>50hz , it's MUST in europe we see pal and ntsc content.   >:(

Sorry about the screensaver fix, I thought it was included in this firmware. We have been talking to HiMedia again and have reiterated how important it is.

50Hz - 60Hz auto switching is also something that we will continue to ask for. As a solution what would people want? Would it be an option in main settings that gave a choice for how different frame rate video is handled? i.e. 24fps, 25fps, 30fps with a choice between 50hz and 60hz for each?

simple like kodi "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" on/off   ;D

simple like kodi "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" on/off   ;D

But adjust it to what?! That's the question. There's very little 50fps or 60fps video so there will be a difference in what people prefer at different frame rates.

Defaults 24fps - 60Hz, 25fps - 50Hz, 30fps - 60Hz?

for best quality video i think video and hdmi must by 1:1

"Adjust display refresh rate to match video" Off/Auto/Manual

auto :
23,976 fps -> 24hz( 23,976hz )
24fps -> 24hz
25/50fps -> 50Hz
30/60fps -> 60Hz

manual/expert:
like frequencyswitcher ?   ;D

Thanks for the feedback. I think we now have clarity on what we want.

Quote
auto :
23,976 fps -> 24hz( 23,976hz )
24fps -> 24hz (or 60Hz if TV doesn't support 24Hz)
25/50fps -> 50Hz
30/60fps -> 60Hz

And an autoswitcher for Kodi.

I am prodding HiMedia as hard as I can to make it happen.

30/60fps -> 60Hz

And an autoswitcher for Kodi.

I am prodding HiMedia as hard as I can to make it happen.

new menu entry:

name: "TV MODE" like button on remote, or
 "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" or "Display Switch" or "HDMI out Hz"

Value:
- Off
- Auto, default setting
- Manual ,personal setting for legacy or special device

- Off:
like now, autoswitch 50<>24 or 60<>24

- Auto:
60hz: 30, 60, 59.940, 29.970
50hz: 50, 25
24hz: 24, 23,976( or use 23,976 hz? like last FW 1.0.8 ), 48(the hobbit ?? )

-Manual:
"like" frequencyswitcher ( not addon for kodi ) where user can change  default setting:
Table
HzFps 1Fps 2Fps 3Fps 4Fps 5
60306059.94029.970-
.....

auto switcher for Kodi can be nice ,but it will can create confusion. The playback must use himediaplayer for better performance IMMO.

PS nice be useful add 1080P24hz and 720P24Hz to "TV MODE" button on remote control.
PPS: on next release ... nice to be  (http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=71.msg172#msg172)

Hi, more of an annoyance than a disaster but the new firmware seems currently incompatible with Kodi Isengard beta. You can install it, set up your library and have everything work perfectly but after turning the box off and going back into it the next day, kodi refuses to load and the box crashes. The only thing for it was to uninstall the beta and reinstall 14.2. Unfortunately you have to redo your entire library from scratch. Anyone else have this problem too? Thanks, Dave

Depends how many movies you have! I have multtiple profiles and about 2000 films so it was a bit of a pain. Glad I'm not the only one though. Thanks for the reply!

This is actually a bug (the most serious bug by far) with the 1.0.8 firmware.

HiMedia will have an official update (should be 1.0.9) next week which will fix it.

In the meantime it is fixed in the unofficial CS custom firmware here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=135.0

If you have a Q5 then I'd recommend installing the custom CS 1.0.8 firmware, at least until the official 1.0.9 with fixes appears.

Next before to uninstall Kodi just save your userdata /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/*

Fast way for testing Kodi nightly build is just to rename org.xbmc.kodi before to uninstall
1. rename /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi to /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi.save
2. uninstall Kodi
3. install any version you like (Kodi nightly build) if you are of FW 1.0.7/1.0.8 CS mod FW or just reboot to get Kodi 14.2 for FW 1.0.8/1.0.8 CS mod FW
4. rename back /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi.save to /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi
5. open Kodi and all your library and profile well be inside.
Of course this is dirty way but is fast and you don't have to spend time on rebuild source, scan contend and fixing mistake of matching movie.
