Title: Copying files from win 10 network shares to Q10 Quad - 0 byte size problem
Post by: tbirz on August 25, 2016, 12:33:13 AM
Hi All,
Sometimes when I transfer files to my external hdd's connected to the q10 quad player from my Win 10 pc the files come up with a zero (0) byte size and I cannot delete them. The only way I seem to be able to fix it is to power reset the box but that does not work all the time.  Has anyone had that problem? Does anyone know the fix? I have searched the forum but I could not find anything mentioned about it. I am using the 3.03 firmware.

If you are transferring using Samba (Windows networking) it may be the bug whereby the total storage size reported by the Samba server on Q10 is the total system storage (i.e. the 16GB flash) rather than the total of attached storage.

If it was this problem then you should get an error message on the Windows PC saying insufficient space. The solution is to ignore the message if given the option or to install a file manager on the PC that allows this message to be ignored.

Another solution would be to install an FTP server (several free on Play Store) on the Q10 and use FTP for transfer.

Try making sure the PC and the Q10 are not in the same workgroup. Change the PC group to it's own individual name. That sorted many windows networking problems for me in Win 7.

Apparently this is how to change it in Win10...

a) Start the advanced system settings in Windows 10. The quickest way is via Run in Windows 10, open this keyboard shortcut Windows logo key + R.
b) In Windows 10 Run just type the command sysdm.cpl!
c) In the Advanced System Properties  you can change your Windows 10 Working Group.
