HiMedia have surprised us by releasing 1.0.7 today. More info from them tomorrow.
The firmware is definitely safe to install.
Please keep discussion of it to this thread.
-
hello Futeko.com,
I am surprised too
-
Cool!
Is 23.976 microstutter fixed in this one?
-

Is 23.976 microstutter fixed in this one?
The only one who can tell for sure is you, this regardless what is in the release notes!
-
The framerate does not show with this firmware when playing a film which it did in the 1.6 firmware,so no instant check if correctly played. Also with this new firmware do you have to have the 24HZ switched to off in the Settings as in the previous firmware? Also new firmware installed as recommended make sure you turn the volume control on the handset to max (use the volume control on the amp or processor for best results) as it gets reset during the new firmware installation
-
I returned Q 5 pro because of software problems...why are you surprised that they release new verions of firmware? They have a lot of work to do....the product is far away to be perfect... until the software will be a decent level...I will keep my Q5 quad device... Until now Q5 Quad is vey ok with 3.3 firm. Cheers!

Good afternoon,
I am at the office, anyone checked the frame rate ?
thanks in advance

One needs to turn 24P ON to make auto-frame rate switching work. This is correct (the label should be changed though) but reverse to how the temporary script version worked.
The fps indication was introduced as far as i remember with the Chinese equivalent FW1.07 script of pcristi (was in the Chinese release notes). It is not available here. That is a pity as it is valid information.
If the problems are gone now can't be judged by me as I am running DVD and BD.

FPS display was only a feature of the beta himediaplayer app, never official 1.6.
Ultimately, it might have looked like a good feature but all it was doing was reporting what himediaplayer thought fps was. In the case of FW 1.0.6 and earlier this would have correctly reported FPS but still HDMI Hz output was incorrect. The best way to determine what fps is being output is through the info display of your TV / projector.
The good news is that after some initial testing I think FPS mismatch / microstutter bug is fixed in 1.0.7. Certainly the usual test videos play without the frame skips. More testing welcome, but for 23.976 and 29.970 I think 1.0.7 is smooth. That's with 24p mode turned on.

I think you should switch now. ;)
Q5/Q10 Pro do everything Q5/Q10 4K3D do but with support for new formats and much more powerful chipset.

Agreed, but still it is nice to also indicate the frame rate. When in doubt one may look for the remote of TV/AMP and find again where the info is to be found (not always that easy and not always correct (confusing 24P and 24P/1001 is common there also).
After all what is against including it? In my view absolutely nothing! So I suggest to carry it over from the Chine FW 1.07 with the next update.
It is a small thing so is correcting Exnternal spelling. That extra N is still there. Takes 5 min to solve and a bit strange with the attention of specifically this release for subtitle support.
But undocumented bugfix: The "Safe Eject pop-up" is now translated to English from Chinese. It may be added to the changelog. This way at least many additional owners become aware that this feature is available.
As far as I can see the FPS mismatch bug is solved by the realization of "auto frame-rate switching". Turning on 24P support enables also 25/50/30/60P switching on my box. See this immediately when playing DVD's (25P/30P mix). Not announced as such; just as that bug fix. Himedia probably wants to see reports back from the field how it works in practice first before bringing it as a new feature.

Beta Himediaplayer, you have normaly the last one in 1.0.7 ? New One.....

No reason for that. It is all included in new FW 1.07 already. See the changelist.
Could the members reporting the "black ghosting" problem if it is fixed again?
Was reported as solved with FW 1.0.3 but came back with FW 1.0.5/1.0.6 apparently.

I must agree with the part that it would be nice to have it right under one's fingertip on the remote and showing the video fps in Himedia Player Info line. Also along with the video's color format information (if this is even possible somehow, in the case I don't missunderstood something). Just even for the sake of correct comparition with the current state displayed with the TV Info button (to filter possible bugs), but nevertheless also...
More mean topic would be the "Black area ghosting" issue, which I will test today with the new firmware., hope it had been fixed, and will report results... (Maybe we would need some commonly reachable test sample video for this, with attributes (such as lots of dark/black space on screen, with moving lighter areas/objects) relevant to the problem... Any known link suggestions would be welcomed...)

FPS display,maybe?
-
The beta version of himediaplayer installs and runs fine on 1.0.7. Just download the apk and install it like any other.
There's no advantage to it though besides the fps display.
I will ask HiMedia to include fps display (and as much info as possible, perhaps via a remote keypress) in next firmware.

it was not fixed with the beta 1.0.7, cross our fingers.

Did a Beta evaluation for External subtitles in close contact with pcristi and this has not changed in the official FW1.0.7 unfortunately. Had hope it would have.
A) Current external subtitle files for specifically DVD are not found anymore. This is valid for both ISO's and Folders. It now looks only for these in the new location aparently. Copying my own external subs to the new central location on internal SD-Card following the new folder name convention had them found again. This is a very clumsy workaround.
B) External subtitles for BD are still found and work as before.
C) Subtitles for MKV are not just found but are reported with the corresponding Language. Using the standard convention for a movie called "mymovie" with an external sub called "mymovie.ENG.srt" results in an external sub to be detected as "ENG Exnternal srt". This is a requested feature amongst others by myself.
So existing external subtitles are handled different now depending on the type: DVD (NOT supported anymore), BD (supported as before) and MKV (improved with language indication). Did not test other formats as I don't use any of those. The new Internet downloaded subs (only English) worked for all types. For me personally not a real improvement yet as I have plenty DVD's with Dutch and Spanish subtitles. But overall with a good potential.
-
+ Ghosting gone
+ Swaps to correct frame rate
+ pq looks great
+ no judders
- no longer gives option to continue or restart video. Now just resumes from where stopped
All in all this is what I have been waiting for. Now a good box and hopefully an a- or a on kodi forums :)

Thanks... off to test, for now namely 2D MKV (full rip), 2D MKV (re-encoded, something like 1920x800), 3D ISO, and finally 29.970.

For 23.97 versus 47.94 I have 2 observations:
- 3D movies (at least with an original BD as a source) should use and report a frame-rate of 47.94 which is 23.97 fps for Left and Right eye respectively. The overall display rate is 23.97 for full pictures and popularity wise referred to as 24P. This is also the bandwidth it needs (=double 2D). A TV with Active 3D (shutter Glasses) will also display it with double rate.
- Telecine recordings straight from a cinema projector will use 47.94 also as projectors display each frame twice. A good editing program should re-mux it at half the rate, deleting all duplicates. No idea if this occurs or not in practice (never use these sources).
I do expect this is dealt with correctly in the observations.
-
-
Can anyone confirm this?
Yes it is.
Formt/DispMode :1080P24_FP/FPK
Sourse fps: 23.976
FrcInRate :23.97 |FrcOutRate :24.0
TV is switched to mode 24.000Hz and decoder send 24.000 to TV when source has 23.976.

when will the q5pro get this ota update

I don't think it really matters what the diagnostic tool reports when output is correct without any stutters. The tool is unofficial and gives an incomplete snapshot of what's going on.
For 2D 23.976 and 29.970, all testing seems to indicate that there are no microstutters. I will pass the findings about 3D outputting at 24hz rather than 23.976Hz to HiMedia.
The wrapper does not require a username/password to be entered. I don't have password protected shares and Kodi+wrapper works without from a clean install without ever having run the wrapper app.

- External subtitles for DVD
HiMedia were told about this last week based on your post assessing the beta himediaplayer. Clearly too late for this firmware but they are aware of the issue.
-

I noticed something strange last night which I think might have been caused by the change to the shares.
I have a 6tb internal hd in the Q10 and I also have Synology Nas's connected via Ethernet.
The Nas's are plugged into the same switch that the Q10 is plugged into so no major network redirection.
Anyway. When re-adding movies & tv shows in kodi, when selecting browse (under videos->files->add source) I found that 50-60% of the time kodi would report errors trying to connect to anything. I never had this issue before. It is as if kodi is being refused connection to any device.

Agreed.
Sorry should have said so. I am talking about what the info panel reports hitting the OK button as soon as fps is back again on that one.

The final version of himediaplayer in firmware 1.0.7 does not display fps in info panel, you must be running the beta version?
The beta version displayed an fps number which seems to be the same as 'FrcInRate' from the diagnostic tool. This is usual for diagnostics but not necessarily relevant to what gets delivered via HDMI.
-
I am talking about the next FW update when fps reporting is included in info panel. We need to thing already what to do there if it needs to be changed or not.
Running the official version FW 1.0.7 for all reporting.

For 3D, I am seeing microstutters as with previous firmwares (even disregarding what the diagnostic tool is reporting). All flavors of 2D 23.976 and 29.970 appears to play well.
For the new wrapper, I'll need to try again as it wouldn't let me click 'OK' w/o putting in login/password...

no need to click OK, choose kodi or wrapper player and back button.
-
Ok, thx.
-
about ISO 3D i agree with hdmkv, i tested several movies the last evening and microstutters are present.

Upgraded yesterday to last firmware. Microstutters seems fixed. I watched 2 movie and no skip frames. (crossing the fingers for next playback movie). Himedia player seems to have more brighter colors but there's still problem with JUDDER. It's less evident than the previous firmware but still persist. I hope it will be totally fixed in next release.

Please give more details about what you mean by judder? I don't see this problem and it isn't being more generally reported.
A sample video that could be downloaded to test for it would be appreciated.

I mean "vibration" as video sample that I uploaded some days ago if you remember. Tonight I try to make another video hoping to capture the details.
Futeko one question...24hz mode is better let it active or disabled?

The judder at 34 seconds in that video is the 23.976fps output at 24Hz problem that is fixed in 1.0.7.
Presuming your TV can cope with 23.976Hz (and nearly all recent TVs can) then 24p mode (Settings - Playback - 24p) should be turned on. Without it Q5/Q10 Pro will output at whatever system refresh is set to (50Hz/60Hz).
-
Sorry guys, but should we use the Auto Frame Rate patch with FW 1.0.7, or this issue is already fixed and the patch is no longer applicable?

It has been integrated into FW 1.0.7 and is no longer to be used. You activate the equivalent functionality by enabling 24P under options.

Hi there, video you posted has a non-standard framerate of 29.789 ... so the "vibration" you mention would be there as the box is trying to sync to 29.970.
-
Good spot.
The video needs re-encoding at a standard frame rate.

Microstutters w/3D ISO's have been there since pre-release box. 2D ISO's @ 23.976 also don't have microstutters now, so can't be a container issue... hopefully HiMedia can fix 3D w/next f/w.

No Futeko, that video is made with smartphone to capturing the tv to show the problem. It's not the real video. This is details of real video that is a .mkv bluray rip:
Codec ID: V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
Risoluzione: 720 x 404
Frame aspect ratio: 180:101 = 1.782178 (~16:9)
Pixel aspect ratio: 1:1 = 1

Maybe it's just as simple as enabling samba again in settings.
I had to do it after the fw update since all previous settings were gone.
Works fine as before.

I would like a sample file to test. There should be no problem with that video. With 24p turned on it should output at 50Hz, so if you TV supports 50Hz it should be perfect.
Do you have the same problem with sample 4, section 4 here?: http://kodi.wiki/view/Samples

Does not work the USB 3.0 slave..this has never worked
Tried USB-Slave Mode on a laptop running W10 Enterprise 64-bit.
Recognized immediately both on an USB-2 port and an USB-3 port. Using USB-3 reached a whopping 180 MByte/sec throughput using the Internal 8 TB HDD. This is also exactly the maximum specified for this HDD.
As I needed to move the player physically for the test, it had only power and USB-Slave connected and absolutely nothing else.
Maybe you could try that first.

[ :-\I do not go on w7 ultimate 64bit,just goes on usb 2.0
Must be something with windows USB drivers, the port or cable. Please try it with a different PC and try different (short) cables.
Will try my tower PC running W10 Home 32-bit also, but it is not a Windows thing. For Windows it is just another USB connected HDD.
My Dell Laptop e.g. was not supporting USB3 when installed with W7, had to download suitable USB3 drivers manually myself.
Be sure USB-3 is working correctly. When connected to an USB2 port on an USB3 capable PC Windows should issue a warning "this device can work faster if connected to a USB3 port". If this does not appear the setup is incorrect.
The USB3 Slave mode is a 100% Hardware feature implemented via the USB3-to-ATA bridge chip on the motherboard. The Q10 Pro does absolutely nothing for it. So FW revisions or even the OS itself don't matter in any way at all.

When connected to USB2 port the Windows PC should issue a warning "this device can work faster if connected to a USB3 port".
The USB3 Slave mode is a 100% Hardware feature implemented via the USB3-to-ATA bridge chip on the motherboard. The Q10 Pro does absolutely nothing for it. So FW revisions or even the OS itself don't matter in any way at all.
of Italian forum many have this problem , I think it is a motherboard problem, usb driver last update..with other device works
I installed extra w10 but the problem is the same!!

Try a different PC. This excludes the very small chance there is something wrong with the USB-3 Slave port physically (badly soldered pin etc).
You then know for sure if it is your motherboard.
Nothing beats filling the Internal HDD via USB-3 Slave. You can even use your media player as a Docking Station when needing to update a HDD for any reason. :D

[my son mac pro , another son w8.. nothing ..what I want to try , this is problem is HIMEDIA firmware
There is no FW active for this at all. Repeat it is done by a dedicate chip entirely. That is the reason why it can be so much faster that the Himedia processor/motherboard can handle. If it is faulty and it looks like that then it is HW and you will need to ask for an RMA for it. If you got the box from Futeko then I am quite confident they will swap it for you.

this is a fw problem, simply increase or decrease the power,I think , I'm not an expert

Hi
I new in this Forum, Hello togehter:)
With my Q10Pro im on FW 1.07 : HMD-1.0.7 2016-08-10.190824
Auto Framerate switching works fine so far. Before 1.07 i used the autofmt patch.
I had hopes 1.07 will solve a Problem with 720p/1080 50Hz PAL Sources.
The Auto FPS Change doesnt Switch 50hz! Only 25fps works , 24/23.976, 29.97 no Problems at all
It works with autofmt 1.0.11.1 , with Patch the Framerate goes on 50hz as it should
Samples for 50hz are on this Site:
Here on http://kodi.wiki/view/
For Examle on this 1080 50hz (and all my Movies on HDD) my Q10pro doesnt change the FPS

Greetings
I can confirm PAL is changed to 25hz and NTSC to 30 hz not 50Hz and 60 Hz. Of course we talk interlaced source material at 50/60 Hz.
Will try the patch again and see what it does.
-
Its on Interlaced AND progressive Material...no FPS Auto Change to 50/60hz
With autofmt it works
Also autofmt changes 25fps Source to 50hz and 29,97 to 60hz,
Without Patch ist 25 to 25 and 29,97 to 29,97, Plays Ok but autofmt fps should be optimal:)

I downloaded the 1.0.7 firmware from the link provide 1 or 2 pages earlier.
Today on my "Update" "Over the Air" it had a newer firmware than the one released 2-3 days ago.
The one i had ended with......24, and the new one OTA ended with......25.
Are there any differences between these two firms?
-
Had the same today:)
First i thought hopefully they fixed the 3D MVC 23.976FPS Problem (with 1.07 Output is 24fps on 23.976= microstutter)
But FW is the same, i even updated it but after reboot its v. xxx24 again

No Futeko, that video is made with smartphone to capturing the tv to show the problem. It's not the real video. This is details of real video that is a .mkv bluray rip:
Codec ID: V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
Risoluzione: 720 x 404
Frame aspect ratio: 180:101 = 1.782178 (~16:9)
Pixel aspect ratio: 1:1 = 1
Display aspect ratio: 180:101 = 1.782178 (~16:9)
Framerate: 25 fps
With Kodi and MX Player Pro there's no judder.
I would like a sample file to test. There should be no problem with that video. With 24p turned on it should output at 50Hz, so if you TV supports 50Hz it should be perfect.
Do you have the same problem with sample 4, section 4 here?: http://kodi.wiki/view/Samples
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwxFVkl63-lEWDUzUVUtZEw4cDA/view?usp=sharing
Now I can't test it because in doubt of probable defects today I returned the box to amazon and buy it again when I will receive the refund. Anyway I tried yesterday with a 1080p movie at 23,976 fps without judder but with a movie at 25 fps judder was present. Box settings is at 720p at 50hz. I want repeat that with kodi there's no judder; only with himedia app. Here's an episode sample that I can see judder:

I have read here somewhere that someone whas cheerful -amongst other things- that in the new firmware the system was finally optimized for the -so avaited- Poweramp GUI. But after testing it by my self, I have not found any such a great improovements. Yes, the upper menu bar is at least visible now, but you still need to use the mouse pointer to access it. With the stock remaote it's still unusable. In poweramp beta (downloadable from Poweramp forums), was even a bit better, even on the older firmware, cause the upper menu was also visible and even reachable (tho' just "blindly", casue the icons wouldn't get highlighted as selected) with the nav keys on the stock remote (which was also far away from usability, but at least could have given an idea, how it could be solved).
So my question is for everyone concerned: For Apps with troublesome GUI controlls previousely, "Otimalization" in the new firmware ment to be mean "just for Airmouse (or mouse, or trackpad)", or am I missing something?! ???
(And don't get me wrong I'm not benter or nag this time, just curiously want to follow the progress in this case, and aknowledge if I had got misinterpreted something.)
Btw, after a bit testing all the earnest seamed good with the new firmware , so far. And in the case of "Balck area ghosting" will do a deeper inspection tonight...
Tahnk you!

Q10 PRO FIRMWARE. 1.0.7-FUTEKO-EN. HMD-1.0.7 2016-08-10.190824
IMPORTANT! THIS FIRMWARE IS FOR INTERNATIONAL/EUROPEAN Q10 PRO ONLY.
DO NOT TRY AND FLASH IT TO CHINESE HARDWARE Q10 PRO OR OR PREVIOUS GENERATION Q10 4K3D.

Update OTA build 190825

Tested with some 1080p videos and it seams that the "Black area ghosting" issue is solved in this fw. Thant's an improovement and really great!
Howerver I'm still not totally satisfied with quality of the dark/black dominated scenes in overall. All looks overly grainy and veiled in the case when some lighter object and areas (like faces) present , making them sometimes even harder to identify or ditinguish from the darkness. It seams that it's a bit even more present in this new firmware, wheres the lighter areas became more darker, outwashed and less contoured and hence overly fade into the darker surroundings. (This all just in the cases of primarily dark scenes.) Did anyone noticed this anomaly besides me, or am I just overly sensitive to this case?
And thank you!

Update OTA build 190825
(https://s3.postimg.org/7utmtmzj7/20160820_103315.jpg)
After the update it always comes out the same?
The same screen shows at my Q10, after installing screen shows that my version is 190824.... It begins to be a little frustrating :(
In addition on the main screen appeared android icon, which when pressed he remote control does not work.
-
the same to me
-
Very happy with this update. Integration of other Android Apps are better!
Now I can access the Settings on my UAPP for my listening.
Even on keyboard. My Qisan 82key Mechanical keybaord.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Keyboard-Mechanical-Backlight-82-keys-Android/dp/B0185BVUFE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471681482&sr=8-1&keywords=qisan+82+key (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Keyboard-Mechanical-Backlight-82-keys-Android/dp/B0185BVUFE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471681482&sr=8-1&keywords=qisan+82+key)
Typing (as what I type in the keybaord) was better. Before its mumbo jumbo.
And keyboard functions work (Home, Volume up, Volume down etc.)
Very Happy Monkey....now continue enjoying the music!
Small caveat though: Thru a simple OTA update , the system will not recognize my USB DAC. Need a full reflash from USB drive.
-
I have updated to the latest OTA firmware and now find the TV Mode button on the remote doesn't show or do anything, is this a bug with this latest firmware or not?

And so on.
Have a High-end Samsung 2015 65" JS9500 model, but the picture quality from Q10 Pro is not good.
1. I get black crush. Not showing details in the dark.
(If is put brightness up, the picture gets even "flatter")
2. The picture overall is pretty "flat". Not much pop or great contrast ration.
3. Ghosting in the picture. Sometimes faces "stick" while a person is moving.
It's like seing the picture through a thin clear food film.
I'm very picky about my picture quality, and I bet to 75% of people, they would not notice all of this.
But running it side by side my VERY old Ryan PlayON HD which is so slow and boring, the PlayON gives a so much better picture.
Details in black, morer pop. no ghost-effect.
Both Q10 Pro and PlayON run through the same receivner, with same settings.
-

It only does something for me when I'm at the homescreen.
It doesn't work in Kodi anymore.
-
hi trykkertor......can you try out the video playback quality using kodi ?
-
Watched 2 3D ISO's all the way yesterday and noticed microstutters about half a dozen times in each. While they seem more subtle than w/previous f/w's as some have reported, there's still noticeable even when trying to enjoy the movie & not really keeping at eye out for them.
The other unaddressed issue than annoys me is the slim rough left edge in most movies. Most may not notice this as TV's usually have at least 2-3% overscan and edges are hidden, but with front projectors, any edge artifacts are noticeable.
-
Bluray 3D MVC was fine with 1.06 , autoswitch worked to 23,976fps, no stuttering
But now 1.07 makes 24.000 out of 23.976 fps
-
Moving back to FW 1.0.6 with the pcristi Chinese 1.07 update script and auto frame rate added. That was the best version for me thus far.
Waiting for a quick bug fix release.
-
I agree with Nice Monkey 1.06 with add ons best version for me, I thought the picture was slightly better, and I like the ability to see the frame rate when playing

there this update 190825? , I'm confused

No, HMD-1.0.7 2016-08-10.190825 is just report in OTA, for testing new recovery introduce with HMD-1.0.7 2016-08-10.190824, scope is to collect errors if exist on preparation of next FW update.

Well....if you download on your computer, you get version .....24.
But if you "check for update online" on your HiMedia, is says there is a ........25 version available.
After installing that .....25 online, it shows up as .....24 again.
So there is a little mix up, but I think they are both the same version.

Extra problems using FW 1.0.7 playing DVD:
- The External Subtitles are not found anymore (reported before)
- Playback has PQ problems probably due to de-interlacing not working at 25 Hz / 30 Hz display rate used now instead of 50 Hz /60Hz as should be.
- Audio off-set with some DVD's all playing well using KODI (without the wrapper).
-
Besides the above reported errors, there are still annoying typos in HiMedia Player. E.g. "exnternal" instead of "external" or "Poliah" instead of "Polish". C'mon, what the heck is "Poliah" ;-)
-

It is only 3D content where 23.976 does not output correctly in firmware 1.0.7. 3D is output at 24Hz so you will get the occasional stutter. HiMedia are aware of this and will fix it.
Is the left edge problem also 3D only?

They are exactly the same firmware.
HiMedia have been told by us previously to number OTA updates one digit lower so customers who've manually updated don't get nagged to reinstall identical firmware. >:(
If you've install 1.0.7 manually the 1.0.7 OTA update can safely be ignored.

The way the language strings are integrated into the app makes this harder to change than you think, but I'll push Himedia to sort it for next firmware. 'exnternal' is particularly annoying.

Hi ., on most 3D, don't think on 2D. Here's a screenshot of the issue (not present in previous-gen Q5/Q10)...
-
you told us that it was normal after you are checked with other devices (NUC for example..)
yes, It is visible with 2D
-
Futeko have you checked the file that I linked to you?
-
hi trykkertor......can you try out the video playback quality using kodi ?
Yes. Last night I tried.
Kodi
HiMedia-player
Kodi Wrapped
Kodi Wrapped to HiMedia
All the same Black Crush, lack of sharpness, ghosting in image, and color banding.
I also tried letting Q10 Pro do 2160 output, and then 1080 output.
Still the same. My Q10 Pro has quite a "poor" picture quality compared to my really old Ryan PlayOn.
-
Just downloaded now.
Will have a look at it tomorrow AM. Too busy today, sorry.
-
No problem man! Let me know. ;)
-
@trykkertor
Which HDMI Color Output Settings do you set in your Q10 Pro ?...youre talking about crushed Blacks....
I have a great Picture Quality and can compare it with the internal Player of my Panasonic DXW784 or Blurayplayer or Popcornhour, no Problem with Q10pro.
I use ycpbr 4:4:4:4 10 Bit 2160 24p
-

yes, It is visible with 2D
This is a different issue. With my i3 NUC using MVC build and my Q5 4K3D (previous-gen), the rough left edge w/video noise isn't there ... with Q5/Q10 Pro, it is. Anyone with a projector should be able to see this.
-
@hdmkv,
ok, and did you have sent a message to Himedia ?
-
Yes, a while back... and in beta testers bug/issue tracker spreadsheet. Not sure HiMedia is monitoring anymore. . is our best hope for action :).
-
about microstutters with ISO 3D, i watched several movies ISO 3D the last 2 days and honestly they are very discreet in my opinion.
Yes, . is our last hope :)

I've tried them all. RGB 4:4:4 8bit, 10 bit, YCBR 4:4:4 8 and 10 bit. 2160, 1080. All of them.
It's not actually "crushed" blacks. But details in a dark suit, leather jacket or so disappears.
If I boost up brightness under settings, the details reappear, but the overall picture then gets pale.
Also get color banding, and slight ghosting of the picture.
Compared to my Ryan PlayON, the Q10 gives a poorer picture, and the PlayON comes out way sharper, more detailed, less colorbanding and more "pop" in the picture.

Agreed... but, it's one of those things, once you start noticing microstutters, you can't un-notice them. Think HiMedia is very close making Q10 Pro just about as good as it can get.
-
Yes, . is our last hope :)
Save us Obi-Wan Futeko, you`re our only hope!

Here's an episode sample that I can see judder:
https://mega.nz/#!ZpVh1RBL!FLPJRxW7LJgcbT0pxkg27yNgwAV3_YTD7GRdB8p2BL0
At min 8:56.
At 8:56 I get a black screen for a couple of seconds. I get the same when playing it on a PC, so it's a problem with the video.

No ., it's a normal pause-scene before next. See after that point where it can see the cinema and the street.
-
I suspect both the perceived PQ problem and the judder are related to output being at 25Hz rather than 50Hz.
With Kodi the auto-switching would not operate so output would be at system Hz, which was 50Hz in Linuxx's case.
This has been reported to HiMedia and will be fixed.
-
The judder also exists while playing thru PC and Pioneer BDP.

Thanks .! If it will be fixed at all output will become perfect! Because with Kodi video colors are a little bit faded respect himedia app.

And very important is proper Framerate Switch on 50/60Hz Material!
ATM with 1.07 nothing happens, no FPS Change at all, works only on 25hz (to= 25hz with reported judder) and 29.97fps, but not on 50/60

HiMedia need to build option similar to MX Player if user want ask for resume / always resume / never resume.
Indeed that is the way to do it. Have several 5+ years old players which already implemented it exactly that way.
The same for Menu playback (not implemented yet for Himedia): YES, NO, Ask Always. With Ask Always chosen it would in fact ask each time: "Play With Menu: YES, NO and now also the option Browse added". That Browse option would let you look inside the folders which occasionally is very handy.

Did you suggest to HiMedia to search on they shelf old HiMedia 900A/B and to review BD lite menu option from Realtek SDK for RTD 1185/1186?

[Did you suggest to HiMedia to search on they shelf old HiMedia 900A/B and to review BD lite menu option from Realtek SDK for RTD 1185/1186?
The RTD 1185/1186 based players where great in their time and in my perception are still the best players around for mere DVD/BD/BD-3D playback today.
I hope Q10 Pro will beat them soon, but today definitely does not.
Have both a Xtreamer Prodigy and an Eminent EM-7385 still in use for this purpose (bedrooms). The EM-7375 has a lesser menu system but is almost bug free which I won't claim for Prodigy and even works fine with an 8 TB HDD Internally and externally. Both have these suggested Menu options as 900A/B apparently did as well. Yes looking in the archive makes sense. ;)

I would like to report a problem with firmware 1.07 - somebody else reported this before, but I found it a bit confusing to understand, so let me try to repeat what the problem consists of:
I am using a JVC projector (X500) that only accepts 4K60 at 4:2:0
- If I setup the player to output the menu @ 2160p/24, then colorspace is set to 4:2:2 YUV, which is correct as it is the best option for my projector at this resolution/rate.
- At this setting, If I play a 24hz movie, it stays at colorspace 4:2:2 YUV, which is correct
- If I then setup the player to output the menu @ 2160p/60, then the colorspace is set to 4:2:0 as it should (it is correct)
- At this setting, If I play a 24hz movie, it switches to 8bit RGB (not correct, should use YUV 4:2:2)
Futeko, appreciate if you could report this to Himedia.
Regards.

So it sounds like it`s a known bug, correct ? I did not see any acknowledgements from Futeko, though.

HiMedia were pointed to the other thread last week: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1149.0
I think the problems are related.
In general we have asked HiMedia to review the switching problems with 4K colorspace / HDR and make everything work as it should. We've also asked for some documentation, which would make life easier for us all!

How do I get the HiMedia player (Playing wrapped via Kodi) to have subtitles off as default/prefered?
I only see the option to select default language, but not to set it default off.
-
Has been reported. It used to work like this till FW 1.07 but for DVD it was broken with this release. It still works for MKV and AVI etc.
In fact many essential things were broken with FW 1.07 please come with an update quick (at least to fix broken items).
DVD support e.g. dropped to an all time low: External subtitles broken, Auto frame-rate now assigns the wrong rates 25P/30P, PQ degraded clearly.
+1 for DVD support dropped in HMD 1.0.7 firmware
- Auto framerate assigns the wrong rates:
-- PAL DVD FrcInRate: 50.0 -- FrcOutRate: 25.0
-- NTSC DVD FrcInRate: 119.88 -- FrcOutRate: 59.94
- NTSC DVD audio out of sync because of FrcInRate: 119.88, FrcInRate need to be 59.94 for correct audio.
- PQ clearly degraded
- External subtitles broken (thx Nice Monkey I didn't remarks)
All firmware affected
- Wrong chapter order for specific DVD
- 50% video DVD tested:
-- can't play from specific position (seek not working).
-- can't resume (probable connected with seek problem).
-
When I play a file from the internald HDD, Q10 uses the wrapper and plays with HiMedia-Player.
But, if I play a file from the NAS (Network Storage), it doesn't use the wrapper, and only plays in Kodi.
Is this a fault in firmware, or something I can correct in settings?
(Which settings?)
-
What type of network are you playing from? Samba (Windows), NFS, uPnP?
If you select the file in Kodi and press menu button do you get a 'play using..' entry in the menu? Does it have both wrapper and dvdplayer (Kodi internal player) options?
-
Was using smtp on PC and UPnP on NAS.
But after your reply, I re-connected NAS with smtp instead, and now it plays through the Wrapped HiMediaPlayer.
Thank you for the hint.
(But why does it has to be like this?)

Changelog:
1. Screen lock supported
What is that feature for? How can I use it?
Basically I need a way to protect access to my Q10 with 4 digit pin.

Go to My Apps search apps name it Super Child lock, set wanted PIN and rules when is active.

How do I get the HiMedia player (Playing wrapped via Kodi) to have subtitles off as default/prefered?
I only see the option to select default language, but not to set it default off.
That feature is just not there, which is very annoying.
Combine that with the default on imprex engine and the bad DVD playback support...
This player needs some MAJOR improvements. >:(

Great, still a bit distant, but at least we have a window for it. I just hope my complains to the Imprex detailed here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1212.0 (http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1212.0) were enough to anticipate a fix for it in the next fw, and also regarding the poor DVD PQ quality (explained by others as a result of bad deinterlacing). Any signs that these fixes will be implemented as well? ???
Thanks Futeko for the reply!

Great news! Can't wait ;)

It's National Day public holiday in China this week. I'll try and get an update on new firmware at start of next week and post it here.

Will be nice to see what Himedia does with the new Split-Screen and PIP capabilities coming with Nougat. For media players these should be the biggest new goodies.
I had hopes for FW 1.07 fixes sooner but we probably go now for a big FW 2.X uplift. Lets see what it brings.
-
Will bring new bugs...ofc ;)

I have the same problems since some weeks with 1080p/60 videos. Small and big stutters, not periodically.
Normal 1080p and 720p/60 are smooth.
